Does anyone wonder why the characters look different than their actual appearances? Such as original Maria's long, violet hair compared to the CG Maria's shorter, dark violet hair.
Also, can someone please tell me that I was not the only one that thought that the Emperor was a "sorceress" before knowing better? :'D /honestlythoughtthisasachild

I believe a different studio did the CG cinematics - they didn't use (or didn't have permission to use) Amano's concepts so they did their own.

They did the FFI Origins version intro too, with WoL looking like a drag queen in armor fighting a random dragon. Woo.
