Hi guys! Just started out playing FFXIII. I'm currently in chapter 3, 11 hours into the game and all I got is 1,700 gil?? does the game really give this less amount of rewards per battle/ hidden treasures ?

You actually don't win gil in FFXIII >w>
You can only get gil by finding treasures and selling stuff (Which is a hassle to do)

That was a really tough aspect of XIII that made a few things tough. But a warning - keep every component you ever get! Every one of them will come in handy for weapon upgrades. Later on, though, you'll start fighting enemies that drop items like Credit Sticks and Gold items that you specifically sell for more Gil, so it gets a bit better as you go.
Luckily, they changed that in XIII-2, so that you do get Gil as a reward from battle :D

Thanks! So basically I'll stock on components and just sell some of them if I have at least 10 of each. I forgot about farming CP and building up my characters as I got caught up with the games's linear approach. I kept pushing forward. The CP system kinda reminds me of FFX's sphere grid but easier to grasp this time around.
I'm currently enjoying the Paradigm system and I think its appropriate SE did that to make battles faster compared to older FF games where everybody waits for their turn. This time it feels like a battle royal!
