So, since I donate to the forums every month (because I love you guys :3) I am starting a Premium Membership Giveaway. Each month, a Dissidia Forums member (or two depending on the donation size) will get Premium Membership (Purple name, Premium Member Icon, and a Character pic in your left side post bar) from my monthly donation. How I pick the person to get this award often comes from good forum activity, useful posts, and sometimes IRC activity (because I am often there). Unfortunately, since I am the one giving these away, there may be some bias, so don't be offended if I don't pick you. There are also a couple things that will make me less likely to pick you (and if you break these often you will likely never be considered)...

- Spam
- Annoying other users
- Bad Advice
- Asking me over and over to pick you...

In order for you to be a candidate, you need to at least make me aware that you are interested (so if only one person asks me about it, they will very likely get it). Contact me via PM, IRC, or below to be considered. As long as you are an active member on the Forums and/or IRC, you have a chance. In general, Forum Activity is what I look at the most, so if you aren't an IRC person, don't think you don't have a chance.

Notes:
I don't want any sore losers. If you aren't picked, don't go out and rep me or the winner down because you don't think it is fair. Doing so (or any other poor sportsmanship) will result in never being considered in the future. Also understand that how people are chosen each month is not always based on what they have done during that given month, but in the past as well. This is not a "Member of the Month" award and purely me being extra generous from my monthly donations.

If you registered past the 15th of the month, you cannot be considered until the next month. This is to keep it from certain people who register late in the month to automatically win (cause they might deserve it). This gives everyone a better chance of winning as well.

Also, since I've already gotten premium, I might as well use the "gift donation" option now. Hopefully this doesn't cause people to stop donating, because this site really needs it since we missed the goal by $5 last month (in which I am very disappointed about). Also, when gifted "Premium Membership," I don't think you get a little star by your name.

While the spirit of the thing is indeed to donate for yourself, gifting donations isn't hurting anyone, and it's actually a pretty neat idea.

All players who have currently asked to participate have been added to a list on the first page of "Registered Candidates."

For any others who wish to register, you may do one of three things...

1. PM me, (keeps clutter off the thread)
2. Post here
3. Query me on the IRC

I'd like to keep the list of candidates under 20 each month (cause watching everyone's activity takes a lot of time and effort). Also, users who have less than 75 posts or have only been a part of the forums for a month will not be considered (I encourage past activity and users who stick around to be considered). I have also updated the first page to include suggestions for grabbing "my" attention on the Forums. There are certain kinds of posts/threads/activity that I am drawn to.

I'm deciding the September winner in a few days, so you'll have to wait for the October picks. When you win for a certain month, that means all activity before that month was considered. Winners are displayed as soon as the Donation goal resets for the month (so typically a little before or on the 1st of the month).

This also gives me time to bring up a good point. If you register on the 1st-14th of that month, you will be still have a chance at being considered for the next months winner. If you register during or after the 15th of the month, you will have to wait for the following month to start being considered.

Let's say ussers A,B,C,D registered until the 15'th of the month. A wins... the next month the ussers B,C,D have an extra chance to win because they were the first registered. But that doesen't mean the rest F,G, etc ussers doesen't have a chance to win... all comes to whatever activity you have on Forum/IRC.

Okay, yes I gave TKG premium for his birthday... It was not countertrolling, it wasn't related to this months giveaway (which is why he isn't mentioned as a winner on the first page), and it wasn't some sort of favoritism. It was more or less a thank you for being a member of the forum who has continued to keep our forum alive (and almost 24/7) . Of course there are other who could deserve such thanks, but I really had TKG written down from the start as someone I would give premium to anyways. So instead of having members who would pretty much automatically won each month (TKG as an example), I'm trying to even the playing field quickly so other members wouldn't have a 0.1% chance of winning this award. I want more users to have a better chance of winning instead of having "no shit this person will win automatically" people crowding up the candidate list. The fact TKG had a birthday coming up was pure coincidence and more or less gave me a more fun way of awarding him. Make sense?

On a side note as to why my donation was a little late this month. All I can tell you guys is I really had a tough time picking a winner this month. By the 1st of the month, I still hadn't made a complete decision between the top candidates for the month. As for who those "top" people were, I'm not gonna tell you guys :p Next month likely is going to be hard as well (which is good). If the decision for winners aren't easy, it means multiple members are really showing me they are worthy.

It's not automatic. During the donation via Paypal, you leave a transaction note that says who you want to give the premium to. Once a Admin verifies the transfer (either Spyder or Mass) and updates the donation counter on the start page, X-Zone should get it. It could take as little as an hour to two days (based on experience). I donated last night about the time I posted the winner (at most 10 minutes before that), so we're just waiting for Mass now.

March 2012's winner is Starseeker358! This month had a number of very worth applicants who signed up past the 15th. Because of this, I had to choose someone outside that group of very worthy candidates. It took a long while for me to decide who I wished to award the Premium this month to. In the end I chose Starseeker. He never posts garbage, is always open for advice, and is in general a very nice guy and good friend. He is one of those members whom everyone can get along with very well.

While some may consider this choice very biased on my part (and it probably is, and I'm sorry about that), I did take into account many factors to come up with this decision reguardless. Most of these considerations were based on recent activity and disposition towards other members. I hope you guys can respect my decision and take good sport in it.

April 2012's winner is... Hollowed! I honestly couldn't think of any other member on my list who could deserve this more. Hollowed is the nicest dude you will ever meet. He has helped develop the DDFF meta since day one and continues to do so in our back room even now. With his help in collecting matchup data with Dart, we have made massive progress recently in our building of the tier lists. His contributions are not always recognized, but they are many and far spread. Hollowed is one member that keeps much of the DF competitive scene alive and well. May I apply? Though I only fit in, like, 2 criteria for the forum category (combos + activity in misc boards, mainly anime) and zilch for IRC. Also, I explore the game by my lonesome (though my brother helps me sometimes), and any info I bring sometimes end up as old or not so useful.

Also, I'm awkward and I don't really talk to anyone here (I only really just joined to share combos). If I do, it's often formal and stiff. Plus, I can be abrasive--okay, I'll stop. I want to get chosen after all. xD

It would be nice to have someone who can help me out. As some may have noticed, certain months I tend to not give anything out because I didn't donate. This is can happen when I haven't made any income that month or don' have the extra cash at the moment due to some large purchase or expense. This has been the case for the last two months with me spending much of my money towards a new computer and other necessities. I should start donating again soon, but if someone else wants to donate in my place (or donate with me on the same month), we can organize winners from my giveaway registration here as a group.

Okay, I'm a little late in reporting this, but I am currently unable to provide PM givaways due to a major car accident I was responsible for in the last month. Before everyone starts going crazy in posts, everyone in the accident was fine, I am not injured, but unfortunately my car was completely totaled. Additionally, I needed to pay a $1000 deductible to my insurance, so at the moment I am really not in the condition to expend money each month to the forums. It is unfortunate, but the accident was my responsibility and I need to take care of the extenuating circumstances that resulted from my stupidity. However, if other members would like to donate in my place while I am on this hiatus that would be awesome!

For all you drivers out there, don't let you're emotions get the best of you on the road, it is a sure fire way for an accident to occur. The moment you stop thinking about the road is the moment you will make a possibly fatal mistake that can either cost you or others their lives. Good luck and drive safe!
