TWOxACROSS

First off, if you'd like the demo, you can go here and download it (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/0/download/) as a zip file, and then you can place it right into the Games folder on your memory stick. Doesn't require a cracked system or anything, so as long as you have over 300mb of free space, you can play it.
This guide is compiled from info from GameFAQs, SiliconEra, and through playing :p
The game is in Japanese, so you'll have to at least bear with it. As a Japanese game, O is confirm, and X is cancel!
__Getting Started...___
After watching the lengthy opening, you'll initially take control of Rem as she enters the academy. Make your way up the stairs and talk to the moogle to enter the Salon. The option with two characters is "Yes," and the option with three characters is "No."
Inside the Salon, you'll see another moogle hanging out near some couches, but to your left you see a crystal post - this is the save point, and it's where you'll take care of all your characters. This is also where you'll choose the character you want to play as.
Here's the translation of the Save Point
Change Character - Straight forward, just select which of the characters you want to play as (see below)
Edit Reserve Party - Not much can be done about this in the demo
Equipment - This can be messed with later, and is pretty straightforward
Character Growth - Use AP earned from Level Ups to purchase new abilities and upgrades
Altocrystarium - Used for upgrading your magic. Can't be used in the demo
Save - Save your game
Load - Load savedata
__Characters...______
Rem - Dual Daggers
Nine - Spear
Queen - Rapier
Ace - Cards
Sice - Scythe
King - Pistols
Machina - Dual Swords
__Magic...__________
After you've chosen the character you'd like to control, you can take a moment to check out the Equipment menu. After selecting it, select your character, and move down to the second "Command" option. Hit O and then select the second option, this will allow you to equip the character with a different spell in their Command 2 slot. In Type-0, magic not only comes in different elements, but also different casting types, denoted by the initials at the end, which change the way the spell is used.
Thunder SHG [Shotgun] - Electricity shoots out in an array in front of you
Blizzard ROK [Rocket] - Fires a large chunk of ice, after a while, it drops down and hits the ground
Thunder MIS [Missile] - Charges up a ball of electricity and then lets it fly
Fire MIS2 [Missile 2] - Shoots a fast-flying ball of fire
Blizzard BOM - Giant explosion of ice erupts from the ground
The same can be done with the Defense Magic slot...
Cure - Recovers HP
Wall - Creates a wall that you can move and fire magic through, but your from enemy attacks (unless they walk through it)
Defend - Block attacks to reduce damage (consumes energy from the orange Ability gauge when active)
Magic still consumes MP, but it's cast a bit differently. Instead of just pressing the button to fire off the spell, you have to hold the button until it's charged. When you begin charging, you'll notice a small blue line run over the command you're using; once it's all the way to the right, you're good to go. Take note that Queen's Cure spell can be held down to do Cure, but can also be held down longer to use an upgraded version.
__Start Menu..._______
(Taken from SiliconEra) Pressing the Start Button opens up a menu. You can change tabs with the L and R buttons...
Information Item Members System Control Explanation
The Information screen differs in and out of battle. The different options under that submenu are:
(out of battle)
Pause Game
Quest (only out of battle)
Practice (only out of battle, not available during demo)
Return to Title Screen
(in battle)
Pause Game
Quit Mission
Return to Title
A press of the R button brings you to the Item screen. This has its own set of sub-categories:
Items Weapons Accessories Phantoma Chocobo
Most of those don’t lead anywhere, seeing as you can’t get a chocobo or new weapons. If you select the Item category, you get this handy menu:
[B]Use
Organize
If you want to use an item, you have to go through this menu without pausing the battle and without the option to dodge. Equipping an item allows you to assign it to the Select button, which you can use immediately during battle without going through this whole process. You can only assign single items though.
Another R button press brings you to party members, but there’s no real reason to come to this screen. You can reorganize the order your party members or reserve party are listed in, but you can’t actually change your party with this menu. Pressing the Triangle button toggles between screens for each character’s equipment and abilities.
The System submenu has three options:
Online
Key Configuration
Configuration
The first leads to the following options regarding a battle feature that I’ll explain later. For now, feel free to ignore it and move on:
http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/type0_menu_01_thumb.png (http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=149828|2)
The information below these options displays your default online information for the demo. You can ignore it. The second sub-menu, Key Configuration, leads to button changes:
http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/type0_menu_02_thumb.png (http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=149828|3)
Finally, the third submenu, Configuration, leads to sound controls and other options:
http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/type0_menu_03_thumb.png (http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=149828|4)
Phew. The last submenu, Control Explanations, is just that. This screen changes depending on if you’re in battle or not. This is a good time to mention summons Also, as a last-resort attack — or just when you want a big powerhouse on the field – you can summon a monster by holding Triangle and Circle simultaneously. During the practice battle, only ice-skating Shiva is available, but you can select to use Golem during the missions. The summons also have four attacks available, but they’re only present for a set period of time (I believe it’s 30 seconds) and summoning them causes your current character’s HP to fall to 0. I’m not a big fan of the summons, but I’ve also heard that they’re one of the only way (or maybe just the easiest) to take on the harder demo missions.
Change the control scheme if you want (I chose Type C, changed it so R toggles Lock-On, and set the Subcommands to use the face buttons). I'll explain the control scheme as if you kept it to defaults, though. Once you're all set, go talk to the moogle near the couches, and select the very first option.
Practice Battle
Mission One
Nothing
Check out the Practice Battle, and it'll take you to a forest to fight some random monsters. You'll actually gain EXP here, so play around with each of the characters, maybe leveling them up a bit before taking on the first mission. Here's how to play...
__Controls...___________
Triangle - Attack = repeatedly tap or hold the button to perform a combo
Circle - Command 1 = performs the character's special move (consumes energy from the orange Ability gauge)
Square - Command 2 = cast a spell (see above for spell details)
X - Defense = Tap or hold while moving to dodge, or hold when stationary to use your Defensive Magic
Analog Stick - Move Character
D-Pad - Adjust camera / Change target when Camera Lock is on / Use Subcommand
R Button - Camera Lock
L Button - Subcommands (together with a D-Pad button)
L+R - Sheath your weapon(s) (HP regenerates faster when barehanded)
Triangle+Circle = Call Summon - Be careful! This KO's your controlled character!
...some characters also have other attacks that can be done if you tilt the analog stick up or down when you attack. Experiment to see who can do what, and when it's best to use those attacks.
__Subcommands...______
Holding the L Button and pressing one of the D-Pad buttons will execute a subcommand...
L+Up = Swap a Reserve member in the place of a KO'd party member
L+Left/Right = Switch between the three characters in your party
L+Down = Initiate an SO (see below)
__Critical Hits..._________
When you're locked onto an enemy, sometimes you'll see the cursor change color for a brief moment. Land an attack on the enemy during that moment to deal a critical blow, dishing out a huge amount of damage. You'll know if you got it because the screen will flash. Weaker monsters are pretty much killed in one hit by these, while bigger monsters can be taken down easier.
__Phantoma...__________
As you defeat enemies, you can stand near their corpse and hold the R button, which causes the body to lift up a little, and the Lock-On cursor to rotate. When it locks into place, tap Triangle, Square, or Circle to absorb Phantoma, and gain back some MP. It also gives you special color-coded items that can be used for upgrading magic, but it's unavailable in the demo.

If you've got something to add, just lemme know and I'll pop it on here.
