But yes, this is what Gil is for; real-time, Triple Triad on the forums. You need to be able to buy cards, right? Upcoming sunday I will for the last time reset and redistribute Gil, depending on several forum factors, and open up the battle arena for everyone. After that, Gil will be distributed every sunday. For the guests among you interested in joining the fun, you'd better register (or log in, if you're already registered) before sunday, else the chance might exist that you will be given a total of 0 Gil!

I hope it's to you guys' liking, since the expectations were quite high. :P

Anyway, now you know our dirty little secret. I'll update you on the rest of the details in a couple of days.

I personally didn't enjoy Triple Triad one bit in VIII so I can't say I'm particularly interested in this.
However, many loved it. Work's obviously gone into this so I hope it's a success. And if there's any way to hand over my Gil to someone who'll actually make use of it, let it be done.

For those of you not interested, I suggest you horde your gil - JUST in case something in the future comes about. Or - if you don't care, at the very least, maybe just collect cards - that in and of itself can be fun for some people (especially those of us with a bit of OCD *coughmecough*).

I hope the majority of our members enjoy this. Of course, it doesn't appeal to everyone but we hope it makes things a little more interesting for people.

I'll be extremely honest: The Random rule is extremely useful when you're playing against people who actually know what they're doing :x There were 5 card combinations that you could assure yourself a tie or a win if you played them in the proper positions regardless of whether you went first or second. That's only with the Same/Plus/Plus Wall rules in effect, of course. Open/Closed is up to player preference, though I like Closed since it makes me have to guess as well as keep my opponent guessing.

Also, don't forget that players can agree to soft rules like no cards over certain levels etc to make things more enjoyable if you so please.

A lot of people where I played used to play levels 1-4 since it was low enough that you wouldn't get those gamebreaking combinations :P You can play just about any rules with those levels and it'll be fair, just depends on your strategy going into the games. Random rule with levels 1-4 is actually a bit of fun if you don't mind having to think on the fly as you go. Closed rule just makes it more fun personally :P

Good point Veysey. While I'm not one for playing card games, pretty collectables sway my opinion fairly easily. And despite my lack of interest in Triple Triad, I do look forward to seeing the feature up and running.
Being a tightwad gil hoarding skinflint kinda sounds fun too actually :3

I might play... it depends. I find Triple Triad to be a little overly simple. I wasn't a big fan of VIII in general. I do normally enjoy card games though. I used to collect and play Yugioh, and then switched to Magic the Gathering. I like their to be some depth and Triple Triad doesn't really do it for me.

I'm excited to see how far this progresses, in my mind I can already see people starting teams, and Team Battles, just like the team wars.

Yeah, I will have to commemorate the effort, even if I'm not too excited about playing it myself. It is a neat interesting feature that I think will get this place a little more lively maybe.

Before all sorts of credit gets thrown onto me: I did not develop the system, I am merely tweaking/enhancing it, as much as I can. I was initially working on TT myself, until I found out a system already existed. Creating something that already exists is such a waste of time. :P

I did a very simplified version back in high school using Java, but it only allowed for you to play against the CPU who had completely random cards chosen, and I didn't have enough time to fix all the bugs in it :x Using someone else's template really saves a ton of time in the end :P

Replays are MASSIVE. They take up a lot of space and besides, don't usually happen between two members.

This will be amazing for the IRC community who will basically play Triple Triad. It means people can bond over another game, share and have fun.

At least TT gives more interaction to players than the missions. Missions are nice and everything, but it doesn't have much interaction to other players to be honest, TT will.

I might've just missed the boat on it, but it didn't bother me since it really only had one application within the story itself.

Belts was alluding to the mission section that he runs and that's what I was specifically talking about (since replays are necessary to get a grade on them). And I mean that not everyone possesses a USB cable or another way of getting their replays onto the internet in the first place, since a direct upload from your PSP is impossible (as far as I know).

Cards have a physical and magical defenses and the letter separating your attack stat from your defense stats decided which attribute you attacked. P for Physical, M for Magical, and I believe X attacked which ever value was the lowest between the defenses and A would target the lowest value overall, which meant A cards could defeat a card with max defenses but only 1 attack.

The only thing random about the cards were their attack and defenses values depending on level. For example, an attack stat of like, 6 actually meant the card could have a minimal attack of 110 to a maximum attack of 120.

Tetra Master's Depth > Triple Triad's.
