Yeah, we noticed this when Nero started creating the set in the first place, I think. It helped that most of us played HP link characters to begin with (Golbez, Firion, WoL, Tidus, etc). The characters who need a little help landing HPs have to play incredibly patiently, but can't do that depending on their opponent and their EX force generation. Otherwise you lose out on your assists and then you're more or less screwed.

Any ruleset limiting the assist-usage in one form or another caters to chippers. The advantage of this one is that the damage scale of the rest of the cast remains pretty solid.

If he wins the first set (best 2 out of 3), he is qualified for the bracket A; if you win, you have to play and win another set to be the one qualified. It's impossible to come up with something "fair" as for your pool because of Nero's drop-out and the tie all over the pool.

hmm good question i have to say when i first started i was spamming moves like a machine (cos i be so pro :)) but now im more cautious and plan a little before i make a move unless im using my OK and then i just go berserk xD i love that little guy

I wouldn't necessarily put myself in that group. I play far too aggressively as Firion when I get impatient.

Kaya's Firion is hard to get a read on since she plays in lag, but she's fairly good.

If RDF won against Khellendros (I thought he did but that was just another misread), he may have moved to the bracket A along with him... he didn't, hence that was either him or Bader for the bracket A; yet Bader and RDF never got to play at the end.


Looking back from when you started until now, how significant of an increase in your skill level have you noticed/seen?My win ratio in 012 is 56% for 3K+ matches while it was 50% in 013 for 5K+ matches. Tournaments' stats here confirm I'm better at 012 than 013, yet some people will always argue that point since the scene is "dead", "has become a joke", "is too small", "all the pros are now retired", "it's the end of the world baby!", etc, etc.

You just...sign up. There's nothing else to it.

Granted, you need a PS3 with Ad-Hoc Party to actually play your tournament matches online, but aside from that, there's no more that needs to be done.

I wonder how patient the match would have lasted if UltimaWeapon2000 took the same approach as X-Zone.

Hmm, I should probably point out I wasn't the only one playing cautiously though. I did lose most of my health as he stayed out of my range then punished my pokes. When I took the lower ground he was playing carefully himself maintaining his height while poking with scoop art, and to me it looked like the real turning point was where he realised I could counter him from deflecting the attack (around 3:50... stands to reason the same would apply to S9 on this stage). The longest stretches of turtling were A) when he had killing brv at 2:32, so I waited for my gauge to unlock and B) around 4:17 where 2K kept faking out dashes to bait an attack, so naturally I continued spacing.

To run through his alternatives, I'm not sure how viable it is for Zidane to float around and do nothing in 012 with the limited jump counts and on a stage like Prima Vista where you have to be all the more careful you can't be snagged by Glare Hand. Turtling Golbez on the ground would be kind of... playing into his hands and widening his options. Granted he could have taken the high ground to wait things out, but we found earlier in the set that Rise Wave > Cosmic Ray reaches up there. Really, the key mistake on 2K's part was not equipping Snooze and Lose.

On another note, I wanted to make a suggestion; what are the chances of streaming Bracket B's finals? I really enjoyed it in Lovey Dovey when Zelphyr streamed them. That's if the participants are happy with having their matches streamed of course.

It happens every damn time ever since Abracadabra: Dragenyo is left out and has to wait for days before playing again because people in brackets B/C are barely motivated. It never occurred with brackets A, not even once, since people are always here and play which results in the bracket being beat into a single day, let alone the finals.

Obviously I could put silly deadlines for every single round in those brackets... but I never had to do it for the brackets B of Rose of May, Fusion and Abracadabra: it clearly lies down on people's motivations at the end. Might as well stop making pools for the first phase next time, jumping straight to brackets while allowing challenges for ties once people have been double-eliminated.

this, make one big bracket like in "The Phoenix" in next costum, just to test how that would work insteed of "pool phase" and diffrent brackets. just an idea .3

Will do. The idea behind this pools & brackets A/B/C system was to allow people to stay as long as possible in the tournament while making sure they always get to face players of their skill in the last rounds.
