I'm having trouble timing the HP moves at the end of jechts bravery combos. Does anyone have any hints and tips to make it a bit easier. Thank you in advance.

There are a lot of topics on the subject so I suggest browsing this section and reading most of what's said around here.
I will give you a quick rundown, though:
- Don't use the audio. Not only will you become lazy in regards to watching the screen, but online will mess you up terribly.
- For the HP branches, there are short "pauses" in his animations when you can hit the HP attack. Those visual cues are key to learning.
- For brv attacks, the early ones need to be timed but the second and third branches are pretty easy to spot the places in the animation when you should hit the buttons.
- Developing muscle memory is very important for the first hits. It's even more important (for online) to develop muscle memory in regards to how fast or slow the lag is (if it's consistently that speed).
Your most important parts are watching the animations and developing proper muscle memory. These two things will up your success rate in terms of execution. Practice is the most important aspect of getting them properly under pressure and dealing with online. It will take time so don't get discouraged. For about six months, I made sure to practice them on and offline at least for 30 minutes a day so that the "feeling" and "knowledge" wouldn't easily leave me. This is the kind of dedication Jecht demands.
(And just you wait until you get into the meat and potatos of this character - combos are ~5% of what is tough about playing Jecht and practice is all that will ever help you with him)

I have the bravery combos down. I just can't seem to hit the sweet spot with the "pause"

In the middle of the bravery attack, mash the square button. seriously.
It works for me.

If you start practicing with Stream > O > vO; watch for the second downward hit, then tap square. It's questionably the easiest when starting out and gives you a feel for how it's going to be for the others (seeing the breaks in the animations). Also, hit up youtube and watch combos - pay close attention to Jecht and learn what to watch for.
For practicing, set up a level 100 cpu in Quest mode with full gear, training ring (or whatever the accessory is) and a really bad HP attack with no brave attacks (Emp > Starfall, Exdeath > Maelstrom, Gabranth > Charge, etc are good choices). Take off as many mobility/critical abilities as you can. Now you have a mostly helpless character who is a good dummy for combo practice.

I mastered that one. Now its the forward wall rush and upward one

Forward is as he does his third rotation (second set of spins) - like just before he'll pause and slams them with his sword (when you don't input an HP). Rush to UJS is just as the sword is at the apex of his upward throw.
