I didnt even know this game even existed till, like, yesterday. I guess its just another pointless entry in the ff7 compilation since its just some stupid cell phone game.

No one has played it because it's only available for Japanese cell phones (unless they live in Japan). They're the only ones advanced enough (with high enough demand) to support it apparently. It actually sounds kind of cool, because you create materia by taking pictures with your camera phone and the base color of that photo becomes the type of materia that color represents. People in your network can also help you with a battle.

I wish I could try it out, the story sounds interesting. As far as I know, most characters from the original game are in it, only younger.

I could be wrong on some of these points, but I think it explains lots of beginnings, such as AVALANCHE's start before Barret joined, since you're starring as one of the Turks this time and they're your main opponent. It also explains questions people have been asking for years, such as "if RedXIII was the last of his species, how does he have babies in the 500 years later ending?!" I believe it pretty much tied all the compilation games into one, because characters from Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus are also brought into the mix, and sets up the stage for the events in FFVII.

I can't say if the story is good or not obviously, but I've been meaning to read the script for it at the very least.

Short summary of Before Crisis:

Right after the end of the war between Shin-Ra and Wutai, the new eco-terrorist organization known as AVALANCHE has just begun its operations, lead by Elfé - a mysterious swordswoman with an unknown Materia embedded on her right hand, commander Shears and the scientist Fuhito. This AVALANCHE is much more violent than its predecessor and they are the villains of the game.
You, as a new Turk, are sent in missions around the world in the company of agents Reno, Rude, Tseng and commander Verdot.
After a few encounters with AVALANCHE, your group discovers AVALANCHE´s real plan: to gain possession of the Mako Cannon and, with it, destroy Midgar. In the middle of the fight, Sephiroth arrives and duels against Elfé. But his power was only enough to end the fight in a draw, as AVALANCHE takes the opportunity to escape and wreak havoc around the world. You then set to find the remaining members and are entangled in a scheme that goes to the core of Shin-Ra´s deep secrets and threatens the existence of the very ones who were supposed to protect it.

I remember Cissnei was in it. Her name was Shuriken and every Turk you playd as was named after the weapon they had, Two Guns, Shotgun, etc.

final fantasy before crisis is well playable, you just need a japanese phone.

best bet , if you really want to play the game is to buy the replica phone that Cloud uses in Advent Children from ebay or wherever, you can get it in japan but you'll have to look, dont sell this item in normal stores anymore, its a collectors item, not that expensive though, 6-8000 yen most likely.

The game is in japanese though, so if you dont read\speak it its gonna be...problematic :P

Cissnei name was shuriken o.o''? Lol, never knew the turks were named after their weapons XD

I think it's because the player is supposed to name them. :P Since the only way to differentiate them at first is by their weapons, that's how they're referred to. Cissnei was just a name given to the Turk wielding the shuriken because that was her weapon.

Trivial thing: in Crisis Core, near the end of the game Zack calls to Cissnei and she says, "Cissnei isn't my real name." Some people think that's what this line is hinting towards. XD

Isnt there some that think cissnei is that blonde girl turk? iirc her name was Elena. I may be wrong but i remember there being some speculation about this.

I think Elena IS in the game, but Cissnei and Elena are definitely two different people. Elena has a sister also in the Turks I think, and she's one of the characters you can name. (forget which weapon she uses though)

Isn't this game linked with crisis core?...I reneber some parts if crisis core that seem like ylthe from before crisis...

Example:cissnei and Zack at the beach while Zack and cloud were on their way to midgar...I remember comming across a YouTube video of the fight between Zack and cissnei in before crisis

They take place at roughly the same time. Crisis Core references it with a few scenes. That's about it.
