katanas about that size and longer have already been made by professionals, although its not called masamune, their called Odachis or great katanas.

Sword in question = Horribly made. At best it is for cosplay only... It was not made like a tradition katana *in this case nodachi*. Remember this sword was based on Kojiro's nodachi which was roughly 3ft blade length...

If you watch most of the video they start talking about height and what the appropriate height would be for someone if they were to wield the sword.

Hey you're as stall as me! I think wielding a Katana that long would be difficult even for our size. Maybe with two hands :P but still would be difficult.

actually they weren't samurai's as much as just hired footmen... normally no samurai will be caught dead using it since it will be too hard to swing since you can only swing horizontally or vertically... and it will be easy enough to read since the blade is so long. However yeah the original purpose was to kill Calvary.
Also... I think 10 ft long was probably the longest they normally got *blade length* since that's just ridiculous to carry around. I wouldn't mind a Nodachi/Odachi but they never really were supposed to be "that" long... unless they were over compensating for "something".

How tall is Sephiroth? He's listed as 6'1", but Zack is 6'3" and Seph is significantly taller than Zack so I'm guessing Seph is about 6'7"?

The sad fact is they will have to add another foot to that sword by the time Sephiroth appears in another game, I swear in every game he has appeared in since FF7 his sword has gotten longer and longer.

...I never paid much attention to that fact, but you're right. His sword is getting longer and longer. Before long, it'll be a miracle if he can swing it properly.

Ei, in case you were wondering, you can measure your perfect sword size for a sword mostly focused on 2 handed use. It's from the armpit to your toes. (Pommel almost touching the armpit and tip on the ground).

Anything longer than that and you might strike the tip on the floor when you swing it properly. Shorter works but you lose reach needlessly.

Sooo, if that sword should reach from the armpit to the toes...im guessing the guy who could wield that would be perfect for basketball?

Silly redneck and thier spare time. also the blade is too thick, masamune is turning in his grave thinking of that sword.

Also on another note the masamune is 6" long With a 4 inch handle and a 5,8" blade.
