Alrighty, the game just came out earlier today, and I was happy to pick it up. I played it for a majority of the night, and I loved every minute of it.
There's plenty of little events that have you using Layle's magic to do different things, eg shoot down flying monsters as you free-fall through sky, stop pursuers from attacking your chocobo wagon while you're on the run, and just normal fights that have you picking up anything, and then blasting it at your enemies.
I killed a Skeleton by pulling its head off, and then shooting it at him. I also picked up a cactus, threw it at a Killer Hound, and then while it was stunned I picked it up, and threw it into another cactus.
The style of the game is much more appealing than the cutesy style of the previous titles, and even the music is catchy.
I say that if you have a Wii, you need to get this game. It's adventure style just like a Zelda, but there are very few games that let you defeat your opponents by beating them over the head with their brothers.
