Heavens Wild Excalibur Cloud of 2 Roses!

Hello all :)

I main Terra and have played some Cecil. I'm in the middle of gearing up my Firion and reeeeeeeealy love me some Shield Bash.

I've listed my WIP Firion build below, my question is what weapon to equip. I have Excalibur II, Heavens Cloud and Wild Rose available.

Cactaur

Point of the build to abuse shield bash and build gradual ex bar. The "trick" is Rebelliouas Soul + Blood Weapon, to provide a big heal late in the match (usually at least 4,000). Cactuar prevents an opponent from one-shotting you and can be used to engineer this near-death status heal.

That looks like an EX build to me. Excalibur II is only really good for EXP to BRV/EX builds, so let's ditch that.
If you use Heaven's Cloud, you can replace the Gravitorb with something else.
If you use Wild Rose, you get a bit of BRV regen while in EX mode and full HP.

Personally, I don't find Wild Rose extremely useful (I've read somewhere the conversion rate for the extra HP to BRV isn't 100%), so I'd go with Heaven's Cloud. (This is just my opinion, of course)

I use excalibur II + super ribbon ex build for Terra. Generally I use Heavens Cloud on Cecil. I'm not really looking to build ex as quickly with Firion, it's more making sure the ex burst is available for either the finishing blow, or the Rebellious Soul megaheal.age out

How much bdnefit does Firion get from the extra +attack on Wild Rose, as opposed to to either HC or exc II? From tests so far Firion seems to get more mileage from +atk and crits than any other character I've tried. I'm semi thinking about Red Drops and Miracle Shoes for the criticals.

Also note that by mastering the "Equip Katanas" ability, you gain access to "Katana Adept," which after being mastered, only costs 10 CP. Basically, you'll have the same attack as Wild Rose, just without the defense penalty and with a more useful ability on top of that. Since Firion can naturally equip Katanas, the only ability you'd need would be the adept, granting you a comfortably +69 attack for just 10 CP.

Like Demitel said, Heaven's Cloud can easily match the attack power of Wild Rose. And since it already has a +5m EX force intake range, you could replace the Gravitorb with Miracle Shoes for damage.

Since you're not so interested in fast EX, you could try dropping a multiplier or two for some Red Drops or some of Garland's battlegen items for even more damage (assuming you're using 1.5x multipliers and not only 1.2x ones)

personally, I use excaliburII cuz it suits my exp to exforce build(firion doesn't nedd exp to hp due to his ex ability)

Yes, Excalibur II is good when used with Super Ribbon and Chocobo items, but not so much when it's by itself.
But even then, if you're using that build to play other people, it's not as good as a regular EX build because you need to actually hit with a HP attack to sustain EX mode... It can be very useful in the Blackjack course, though.

the exc II + super ribbon, ex build has worked very well for my Terra in vs games, though it's fairly easy for Terra to meltdown/ultima or even flood through a wall.

The Heavens Cloud + Katana adept is FANTASTIC. Lots of +atk, lots of crit. On equal level opponents, tested, fire crits for 847. A returned, shield bash fire on equal level opponent just hit 3428.

490 cp points calculated at master rank. At the moment all skills mastered except katana adept and ach+ (currently ex critical boost unequipped).

The Rebellious Soul + Blood Weapon combo is still intact for late game heals.

Summon of choice is still Cactaur, which virtually guarantees you won't be one-shotted.

Firion +atk stat of above build = 188.
