okay, while the exdeath guide is being worked on:

I need serious exdeath tips. I wanna start playing this guy but i don't have a clue on what moves to use, which of the guards, and also equip and accessories ._.

XD thanks.

Lets start with a few things;

Cloud smashes people into stuff, Kuja flies around and chucks magical balls, Tidus dodges, ExDeath COUNTERS. It is his 'thing' like all of those other characters have their 'things', so most of your strategies will be based around countering. Obviously. I'd rather not go into super detail as I'm working on the guide, as you said, but if you could be a teensy weensy more specific with your questions I'll be more then happy to answer them :)

Which of the guards should I use? :))

Or should I just use all of them and don't use any offensive moves o_o

Depends on what level you are.

Personally, at high level I only use All Guard and High Guard, the other two are okay but you'll find that these two are the most effective.

Magnetic Teleport is a nice way to get places, although even more fun if used offensively now that it staggers opponents.

To your second statement, phooey. ExDeath can be as offensive as you want him to be, and don't listen to anyone who tells you to only play him defensively.

With ExDeath, you usually have a lot of time to think, good players will stand back for a bit and do the same, allowing you the chance to watch. Observe.

And strike.

But countering is easier and much more effective :P

As for HP attacks, I almost always rely Grand Cross and Almagest to do the deed when I've built up enough BP to kill my opponent with one hit. Delta Attack is nice, but the downtime is too much for me to be comfortable with, its also very linear.

Anything else?

Thanks.

So I'm thinking my setup should be something like:

ground:
neut = black hole
forward = teleport
Back = high guard

air:
neut = sword slash thing XD / teleport (i don't have english dissidia yet so this isn't a choice)
forward = all guard
back = high guard

The best way to come up with set ups like that is to just experiment. What might work for me might be awkward to you.

ExDeath's Delta Attack is a guard counter in in itself, but it simply auto deploy regardless of weather it guards or not like Sephiroth's Scintilla.

So Delta attack is actually more useful than you think. ;D

I never said it wasn't useful, I have just had a long history of being hit after I use it.

@Khriox:
I'm not gonna be using ExDeath for some time but i'm pretty sure that I will have to face him sooner or later. Just some questions, who is the best counterpick against ExDeath? As an ExDeath player who do you find it hard to win with? Because everywhere I go I always see the name ExDeath on the top of the tier lists, is he really that good? Is there now way to break his Guards? I'm a Cloud and Cecil player btw.

You're right, I guard countered with it, but Cloud was instantly allowed to hit with a braver afterwards. I don't like it. =O

ok, someone explain to me why exactly Exdeath is so broken. Sure he can counter like everything with one move but if you hit him quick enough for wait for the Exdeath to use a counter move and punish, you should be able to beat him easy enough. Excluding the instant block into HP attack, none of his HP attacks are remotely quick to do damage and your opponent can just interupt you if you try. YOU HAVE TO SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR THEM TO ATTACK. I don't understand how this character should be considered better than characters like Golbez, Squall, Tidus, Zidane, etc. Explain plz?

A Guard counter Alagamest is undodgeable. >.>

Exdeath is godly if you have super accurate timing. Period. You can't wait for them to attack cause they won't really (i just spam the vacuum shot thing until the other player blocks)

how do you exactly use grand cross. O_O long cast time, long recovery animation. -.- or are there any other uses?

A really good piece of advice is to (and I'll say this as best as I can) 'assume' that all attacks can be guarded by High Guard. Then, little by little start substituting Omni Guard with High Guard for the attacks you see High Guard not being able to block. It may take a while, but obviously, it's worth it. This is how I learned pretty much. Also, fighting random CPUs on aggressive mode will help out too. That way you learn how to respond to everyones attacks. Lastly, keep in mind that not all attacks are block-able (such as Golbez's Rise Wave since it's kinda hard to see coming). In that case, dodging is the better decision - that is unless you have really sharp reflexes. I hope this post wasn't confusing. :p
