Just one quick question, is Searchlight>Paladin Force a glitch? or is it meant to be a combo? (e.g Cloud's extended omnislash or like Jecht's BRV>HP combos)
Do you mean those wave came out when he is on the air sorry I don't know the name but I do main Sephiroth

I think it's a glitch, similar Cloud's Extended Omnislash. The reasoning for this is, Paladin Force does BRV hits before the HP hit at the end, and Searchlight ticks the box that says a BRV hit has connected, which sends the surprisingly godly homing into overdrive to connect with the HP section of the attack.
It's a variation on the Bartz Holy Glitch. Many characters are capable of using it with their own moves.

Actually no, it is an intended combo. My main reasoning for this, is if you have ever played Bartz and connected a Holy before firing off Paladin Force, it won't work. This leads me to believe that Searchlight has some sort of special property to it, such as the hits being registered on the same number slots, also notice that landing the "Searchlight" portion of Paladin Arts won't trigger the effect either.
Also something that I have noticed, the "Holy Glitch" only works with moves that require multiple button presses (Holy -> Flare, Attack System to Cosmic Ray, White Fang to Rune Saber) so in this respect, it wouldn't work with Paladin Force anyways (unlike an ExLink)
Disregard that, i suck cawkz harharhar

Bartz's Holy is a HP Link anyway, to do Paladin Force afterwards would require a dodge, and the way Bartz's Holy works is the first wave ticks the BRV has connected box, while the second allows for Flare to be cast. If he does 2 waves, and then dodges out to perform Paladin Force, the timing allowing the trick to happen for Cecil would have passed, and so, it's not possible on Bartz due to the fact that his Holy links into Flare, and dodging out would ruin the "strict" timing.
It also doesn't work with Paladin Arts, as that's a 2 part attack, and again, dodging out would ruin the timing. If I remember correctly, Searchlight -> Paladin Force is a time-cancel combo, right?

I don't know what qualifies as a glitch, but Cloud's extended Omnislash works on the same principle as the Holy "glitch." A (reflected) Ranged attack registers as the hit necessary for Omnislash.
I've had Bartz's Paladin Force extend into Holy. I can upload the video now if you'd like to see it.
Additionally, Paladin Force links to Gravity Ball and Paladin Arts with proper timing.

Either way, it's working on all of the principles that enables the Holy glitch to happen.
Which means, if this was intended for Cecil, that the Holy glitch is a side effect of allowing the link for Cecil, which would mean, it was intended, just not for anyone bar Cecil.

Wait you have a vid of Holy linking to paladin force? By all means, share, if this is true it refutes my whole argument.
I want to see this too :D

When you think it through, though, it works exactly the same way as Extended Omnislash, which works the same way as the Holy Glitch.
I'd be surprised if Holy -> Paladin Force does work, as I thought the timing wouldn't allow it, seeing as Holy links into Flare.

lol at your edit xD you're a brave man
After shooting Holy, if there's enough distance Bartz will start falling meaning Flare can no longer link. Paladin Force can link but it seems it must be used at the same time Holy hits to extend (just like Gravity Ball/Paladin Arts). Mistiming Paladin Force will whiff as I did several times in the above video.
That said, Bartz could combo Holy->Holy->Flare instead if distance is an issue. Maybe there is a very slim zone where Holy->Paladin Force hits between where Holy->Flare and Holy->Holy->Flare wouldn't.
I should post this in the Bartz section, huh?

That's a not bad trick, but wouldn't it be better to just use flare? lol, it still looks pretty cool, but only did one hit of brv damage in that vid

After a certain distance, if you don't send a second wave of Holy, Flare won't work. Still though, I was assuming you'd need to send 2 Holy waves for it to work. Nice mix-up, too.

I just fought a Bartz CPU on the Lunar Subterrane. He used Holy some distance away from me, I dodged the fastest orbs and walked around a stone outcrop. One Holy curved around and hit me. Bartz surely would have began to fall and another Holy wave/Flare wouldn't have connected. Paladin Force would with correct timing. This is just one instance where Holy->Paladin Force can be used to get past stage obstacles. With a skilled eye and practice, a Bartz player can connect more HP attacks this way. The opportunity could present itself in over half of the stages, and Paladin Force can't be punished in them.
