View Full Version : Sig advice.
So I here a screenshot that I took and really like.

And I want to make it into a sig of some sort with Sephiroths dark flares still around him. but the question I have is how should I go about this without making the signature super busy and hard to look at?
I have read the tutorials here but this is more a subject of opinion rather then me asking how to do something. So any ideas? Getting rid of the background is necessary but what do you think I should do? Make flares smaller/ different color? etc?

I think it's hard to work with an image of this quality if you plan to remove the background. I think you should perhaps trim some off the bottom, so to get rid of the Square Enix label on it, and perhaps try some filters and effects on it. I think the background fits really well.
I think the Flares should be left as they are. To you intend to make it look less like a screenshot than it is, or doesn't that matter to you?
Edit: If you manage to trim Kefka out neatly, I could see it being really good without the background.

I guess less screenshot(y), I'm hoping on resizing it as well so its not blatently big (and yes getting rid of the logo is also a must)
But leaving the background with a filter does sound nice I'd still want to darken it to keep kefka the center of attention.

Id say keep the background maybe add some proper lighting depth and add sharpening on the focal point to make it stand out, you can always smudge the background abit, also use the burn tool around the corners of ur sig to give it more of a nice feel on kefka, and the dodge tool to add around the light depth area. (if what I type makes any sense)
Just treat this as a stock image and just make kefka stand out.

I'd use the round marque tool and feather, than use a style that would fit with the colors of the background. You could also try inversing the colors so everything stands out more and try to rip Kefka out.
Also you can get rid of the logo with some stamping without trimming the image.
Nice thoughts! I tried inverting the colors and it looked cool but it clashed with the flares. But I'm going to try sharpening kefka and using the marquee tool. I'm loving the ideas here guys!

You're supposed to invert the colors to make it easier to rip than you invert them again to make the picture look normal xD
