KAoS Tournament Finalized Brackets [Archive] - Page 2

RDF, how come you and Shine had battles? You guys aren't anywheres close to each other in the bracket? *is confused*

Anyone mind explaining what happened? O_o

Shine cannot connect to CG invasion
RDF cannot connec to Paru "Turtle"

Therefore, in order for this to be solved the organizer decide that RDF most take CG invasion position to play against Shine whereas Paru stay in his bracket waiting to play CG Invasion.

The organizer decide these by voting and since Shine and Paru already face in the previous tourney. They decide to choose RDF2050 as Shine's opponent.

They try to be as fair as possible and prevent Coin flip to decide who won.

Nah, I think we just need to accept the fact that dissidiaforums has grown quite a bit and there are many other decent skilled players out there then the same people who make the Top 8 every tourney. Thank god, because it was getting boring watching the same people over and over.

Before quitting I played my ulti a couple rounds VS his kuja.

I don't ever remember being so frustrated in a match (with the lag and the floaty green stage whatever its called) but those were some good and LONG games.

Terra is win though. Hehe. Only people I've seen manhandle Terra is pretty much Dave.

ps: Poke better start training for terra mirrors. ROFL. There's a good chance kraid might terra-up if he makes it through. No doubt sd1ad will also.

ps2: Ah. Forgot to say that I am more than happy to have all the Squalls DIE in battle. Hahahahaha! Serves you guys right. Now my buddy RDF needs to take care of Kgen completely and I'll be "doubly" satisfied. :D

It is true that dissidia community is a bit bigger, but it is a fallacy to base a conclusion that with numbers come quality. In double elimination tournaments luck can strike (after all it is possible to lose the first 2 rounds, and never ever loose to that same player ever again.) Alot of data is needed to make such conclusions. For now the top 8 earned their right -- and now they need to defend their titles.

When someone says Top 8 -- it means that the results are consistent with many tourney's before. If new players can keep their wins consistently then we have a different story.

Also FFXIII timing in my opinion had to do something with the performance of everyone in this tourney.

Also it is quite more difficult to defend a championship (top 8) spot than to win it the first time. The champions of the previous tourneys' may not have the same drive to defend their title as the challenger who wants to take it away. It is all in the will.

To be top 8 it is not enough to be decent -- one has to be damn good and not in a single tourney.

All in all it is good to see new faces and new challenges -- and new champions/challengers.

In closing I find it interesting that Terra players are advancing at a rapid pace. Maybe this is their tourney -- we have yet to see.

Why the hate? Ah... call me wierd but "mostly" everything about Squall's design seems to piss me off. I really can't explain it to be honest. But beat-fang isn't even the factor here suprisingly. ;)

Yeah, I don't blame FFXIII for my loss, but rather the lack of interest to train or pursue Dissidia matches, being on vacation, and being sick for about a week. Regardless, I'm not waving any of it around as an excuse. I told a few people I was rather unsure about joining in the first place, due to my lack of regular playing since Get Salty, but I did it anyway. It's a shame, though, since everyone jumped on the Terra bandwagon for this tournament, and I dropped out of it before effectively being able to represent. XD

@Draec: Pretty much sums up what forms consistency in a competitive community and the "motivational factor". There´s always the underdog trying to prove himself and a couple of surprises along a tournament. And that´s good, because it refreshes the community as a whole and shows that if one wants to stay on top, one has gotta work for it. But, even then, we´ve been having consistency on the top. Now is the time to prove, more than ever with the advent of skilled rookies, that the top is well deserved for those in there. And I agree with the Terra statement.

@Armoxus: Totally uncalled for, but ok. If you could devote yourself to the training, more power to you, I guess. But don´t just assume people are making excuses just because of an observation.

Agreed, a good ExDeath is very deadly. Don't expect it to be a short match. You need to be very patient against him, as he does against you. Force ExDeath to unnecessarily use blocks and such, and pop in an attack in between. Thats the basic strategy I suppose. And it will most likely be an air battle with him. I faced my first human ExDeath in Get Salty, and it did not go well =P.

Like Armoxus said earlier, the community is growing, and people who were average before are learning and getting better also. The people whom we know and are familar with we see them as the best cause we know them here, but out there are lot of people whos skills are unmatched. When I first came here I was blown away seeing how much of a noob my Squall was (still sorta is :-) ). I had no idea of any of the custom combos and what not. There's a lot to learn, but once you learn it all, its just about perfecting those skills. But some skills cannot be perfected by all, and these skills consist of reading your opponent and mind games, and these two things in the end are what seperate the winner from the loser in a match.

I have to agree with this. I do not have natural talent, but rather a good working ethic and I would like to believe that there is nothing I can't do with enough time and dedication.

On a completely other note - Congrats Bloodsword, your Exdeath was tons of fun to play. Maybe next time I'll be able to steal a win from you! Good luck in the tournament - I'll be rooting for you and your Exdeath all the way!

Very much so - this.

Tournaments do bring in more people of course but we aren't based off tournaments completely. There's other things about Dissidia that we try to expose as well. Like the mission room.

There's already a few members around here that don't really play Dissidia anymore but they still stick around. I think the community here is pretty warming as well, so that might play a part in why people hang about. :3

Yeah, I lost ... and no, I don't know my match-up well. His was the first human Exdeath I've ever fought. Knowing I was going to fight either him or Prox - I wanted to make time online to try and get match-up experience but life gets the best of ya sometimes :P

I have to agree with this. I do not have natural talent, but rather a good working ethic and I would like to believe that there is nothing I can't do with enough time and dedication.

On a completely other note - Congrats Bloodsword, your Exdeath was tons of fun to play. Maybe next time I'll be able to steal a win from you! Good luck in the tournament - I'll be rooting for you and your Exdeath all the way!

You busted your head up (and I think you knocked a few screws loose :p), had exams that day, and had a horribly stressful week. You should have waited an extra day or so. And I realized me trying to play with lack of vision on your part didn't work because the game makes the castle floorboards translucent if the enemy is under them.

I already dealt with this match-up once(in a fantastic battle against Tsuken, I might add...see Get Salty), I can try to pull it off again.

My only issue on connecting combos is when the game actually stops moving. I don't really have any experience vs you K'Gen but my experience from KM Riku makes me shudder at your lag. But then again different person, different connection. When I fought him the game would actually stop for a few seconds when I combo'ed making it nigh impossible to follow up. I can combo in any lag, but when shit be spiking like that, I'm toast.

Wow, I was just reading the comments on Aveot vs. Dave..seems like Dave's been getting some hate lately due to spamming SF. Let me just say this, spamming the same move does not mean victory. Watch all of his matches and see how he seizes every oppurtunity to punish on a dodge or otherwise. If you know that you won't make it in time to atk him during his SF, then don't run up to him and dodge so that he punishes you. He doesn't leave much room for himself to be punished. He knows how to pressure, he knows when to dodge, he knows when to punish, and he knows when to atk. Its got nothing to do with "spamming", its all strategy. Knowing he'll spam SF then do SC on you should allow you to develop ways around it. Its no reason to start hating and crying about it.

Anyway, congrats on your victory K'Gen, I'm realllly looking forward to your fight with Dave. He doesn't leave much room to punish, but you're an excellent reader from what I've seen. I wish you both all the best.

You could defend his spamming all you want but in all honesty spamming is spamming. Dave ueses the threat of "give me the big stages or I'll use Zidane" to bend people to his will. Watching the videos, I do question the logic of said players using certain characters without the proper abilities or tactics to beat Dave at his own game. However when Dave is in jeopardy of losing at his own game, he'll fall back on good ol' reliable Zidane to try and get that needed win.

Winning is all fine and dandy but Dave will change his tune once he starts to fear his opponent's skills who.... by golly don't spam. It's all truly an amusing predicament to observe to say the least.

Using Zidane is a threat =D? I actually want him to go back to him. Seems like he's more dangerous with Sephy lolol. But I can't say cause I've never faced his Zidane. But with Zidane its just dashing, dashing, dashing, FE, dashing, dashing, Swift Attack, etc, isn't it? =D.

I put the blame on both sides, Dave and his opponent. Spyder was the first Squall and through the first match being so long as to not even being recorded due to the sheer amount of SF spamming, we know that Squalls have a difficult time against this. Then wave after wave of Squalls came in attempt to.... I am unsure. Perhaps to prove that they could overcome such tactics? If you know he's going to be a supa spamma then use someone who can use safe attacks without much worry such as various mages.

Exactly. Frustrating your opponent is a good way to win. I think it was Vaille who said that "If your opponent is mad, you're playing the game right." and that was about SFIV. Same situation here also. The madder your opponent is, the more likely they'll lose.

I couldn't have put better. Its a legit tactic. Effective? Easy to do? Boring? Yes to all these, but that is thing its a part of the fucking game and legit. You don't see people complaining about BF camping+spam. Players are gonna use what is the safest, most nonpunishable move they have, until they see an opening. Thats DFF kids. You might as well give me shit for spamming S9 vs Golbez or any other character that doesn't use FAD and have fast air attacks.

You're right. Too bad the only character I feel most comfortable with is Squall lol. But even so, I did luckily get Dave to 1 HP in our first match =P. Well rune saver fail me and when you are guest, there is nothing you can't do. Now i get why i have to host my tourney matches otherwise rune saver miss timing will happen 65% of the time.

I got surprise he use Squall and THE LAG was not as bad i people make it to be. I only got to understand his mindgame in the last minute of the third match. If i did not dodge, i might have a chance of winning.

K Genesis i hope you destroy Dave and his spam. Most of the people here wanted. I do not hate Dave' spam but its time for another final not Dave included.

On the spam issue, I won´t say anything because people are directly involving my next opponent on the subject. My opinion would affect the overall atmosphere of said match, for good or bad;wanting or not, and I don´t want that.

On the lag issue, hosting and such, I don´t see the relationship between hosting and Rune Saber missing(or not, for that matter) its mark. I think it can also happen while you´re hosting as well. I don´t even like to talk about lag as a determinant factor, because it´s part of online gameplay.

On the match-up Squall x WoL, I´m ready to call it 3 x 7 in WoL´s favor, especially now, after having fought two of the best WoL mainers on the forums.
A 1 x 9 score implies the impossibility for the disadvantaged part to win at all, considering players with the same amount of skill. A 2 x 8, in my book, is a very one-sided match. A 3 x 7 implies a clear advantage on WoL´s side, but not sheer superiority, which seems to be the case. But I´ll comment about it better on the Squall boards, if need be.

Ok, for people who don't understand the Rune Saver miss timing let me explain it.

I play most of my matches me being host so each time i use Rune saver and it does not fail. The problem start when you don't host and you are the guest. In my many matches with Lyco's WoL (robo's Friend) i discover this is a glitch that only happen if you are guest. This imply that each time WoL player is a guest, has High % of the time that rune saver will fail. The problem with this is the timing it needed. However, each opponent you play has different lags which make very hard of when to use Rune saver. I will take for example my tourney match 1 with K Genesis.

The stage was World of Darkness (Omega) and K Genesis has 9k Brv enough to kill me and i knew that if Rune Saver fail me, i will die. I knew i was Guest but i did not ask K Genesis for me to host. I use Rune saver like 4 times in match but i was worry that it will fail me due to timing required for K Genesis's Lag. In the fight around 5th time Rune saver fail and K Genesis take opportunity to use Arial Circle to kill me which piss me off. I save match 1 and right away ask K genesis for me to host the matches. Rune saver did not fail afterward in match 2 and 3. This glitch might be similar to Zidane's tempest Glitch.

You can agree that if he wants to be host. He can't attack if Rune saver fail. Ehx better accept it otherwise you might have to share between be host or guest. This is the only time i will give someone to host.

When I went with Gabby in GS, when you lose was near imminent, you ran back to Zidane to try and handle things since Ulty, despite your running away tactics which couldn't do the job quite good enough. I could have easily switched to Kefka in the GS Grand Finals but chose not to do so because I enjoyed the level of difficulty with CoD. I even abided by the people's votes of what characters to use even if my gameplay was more than shabby. So again, please elaborate instead of throwing out simple words making you seem better than me. Check out that message I sent you too, boo.

Zidane: Swift Attack
Tidus: Hop Step
Cecil: Valiant Blow
Kefka: Run away -> Space > WWF > Vertical Jump + Precise Jump > WWF> OAD away + drop below > WWF > Repeat with the Thunder move or w/e
Bartz: Ground : SA + Shield move Air: Holy spam unless Punishing dodge frames with Slide Hazzard (Who the hell would use Storm shot or Slide hazzard openly due to the long start up lag?)

Again, Dissidence was months ago. I've only noticed the trend recently with the "superior way to play DFF" and decided to comment on it. Dave seems to be the one advocating such methods the most through his consistent examples shown throughout every tourney. I am not looking to "redeem" myself or score points on the basis whatever babble you went on about. Instead I have learned to utilize every attack that Kefka, since we are on the topic of my Kefka, has to offer. You may continue to reference something that happened months ago though. A murder after much thought deems murder a heinous crime; however he is just a flipping hypocrite because he did it in the past. Oh drat.

I have a strong distaste for spam as it makes such matches insanely boring to watch, play, and teaches the newbies a "tactic" that only serves to make the entire DFF community a flock of brain dead spammers. My time with this game is nearing an end, and I sure as hell will not be one to sit idly by. I have an opinion and will sure as hell express it regardless if I am in the minority on this issue.

Also Dave, I would just like to have a hearty chuckle that your description of Kefka's spam had about five key elements while others were summarized with a single move. Oh you.

Ok, I will admit this will be off topic, its in relations to being a Host/Guest on AHP. I'll be frank about it, there is no difference between it, easily put your connecting to 1 another.

Let me explain it in Networking term

Player1 - Host
Player2 - Guest

Player 1 hosts and player 2 connects

for this to happen there needs to be a connection made between the 2 players. With connection the relation of why there is lag is cause by a delay of packets which I like to call "Ping". This delay is factored in in milliseconds, thus once you connect to a player, you will start sending packets to one another and the speed in which u receive them determine the ping in ms.

So lets say you were to ping player 1 from player 2's computer

you might get something like this

Reply from 10.10.10.10 bytes=100 time=35ms TTL=254
Reply from 10.10.10.10 bytes=100 time=34ms TTL=254
Reply from 10.10.10.10 bytes=100 time=32ms TTL=254

See how there is a difference in the ms, not a big difference and with a result like that you would not even notice the difference.

Now back to AHP debate.

Player 2 being the guest gets a ping of 90ms to Player 1 (player 2 sends a packet to player 1, player 1 receives the packet and sends back the reply in less than 90ms)

Now I'll let you guys think about this abit, Usually when you play online with ps3/360's/pc's, You'll notice people will have different pings (if you can see their ping) if not its ok. Point is, Even if you were to switch the roles since your just doing end point to end point connection on a VPN, even if u switched the roles, the ping would likely be around the same thus being unnoticeable.

Until now Rune Saber has not yet fail me when i am Host. The problem is not about lag. It is about missing an attack that should not fail. I don't care if i am alone in this. If someone want to play me in tourney match, i will really like to be host. Otherwise the outcome of the match will results same as K Genesis match 1. Unable to ExGuard.

I will not start an argument about this and have another Drama in Dissidia Forums. I will only tell you that chance of Missing Rune Saber is very high when you are Guest.

I'm not starting an argument, I'm stating the facts of how connecting to one another works. I've even gotten out of Benji's Rune Saber while he was the host, so this nullifies your argument, Rune Saber can be gotten out of if your timing is off. Deal with it!

Correlation does not equal causation. Just because you landed Rune Saber the times you were the host and didn't when you were a guest doesn't mean being a guest will cause Rune Saber to miss. It's merely circumstantial. BEYNd explained it perfectly, and you ignored him.

It has to be a host/guest issue. Unless it has something to do with abilities equipped like speed++. Being a Semi-WoL main, I have noticed once I miss my first 2 Rune Sabers in a match, it will continue to happen throughout the rest of my matches ith that same opponent. (I am making this statement more so about my matches with 3/5 connection or better)

Also, I love how everyone is sitting in their little semi-circle, fighting against someone on teh interwebs. How pathetic. Honestly, you guys should know by now not to let Funky bother you. If he continues, just give him a warning/infract him. I hate to be so blunt but it pisses me off to see others teaming against one guy. Sure, you're discussing the topic, (spam) but this does NOT involve insults and such.

Incase anyone is wondering, me and lyco are suppose to play today for round 5

I'm actually friends with Funky, but just because we are friends, doesn't mean we agree on the same shit. And you call disagreeing with someone pathetic? Great logic pal. Ok, this is starting to get annoying. Armoxus, if you recall YOU were the host in our match, and I don't think I need to remind you the countless times Rune Saber missed in our second match.

EDIT: And looking at the Lyco vs. Slayer0 match Lyco manages to land pretty much all Rune Sabers. Its obviously just the timing thats the issue.

Actually I am quite fine Armoxus. I did go against Rei's wishes and Rep caught me on that so I politely stopped. If insults are needed for peeople to get their point across then let it be so. I am simply speaking my mind and obviously others will disagree with me. It's not like I'm going to harbor any ill will against the individuals who support the different side of the coin. If anything I am simply disappointed that Dave would resort to such things after knowing each other for so long and having hours of friendlies. It is is what is.
