D.Grey-Man

Akuma, monsters born from dead souls mistakenly recalled by their loved ones to the living world, are the weapons of the Millenium Earl, who is intent on the destruction of the world. Allen Walker has been cursed with an anti-Akuma weapon as his left arm and an eye that sees the former soul of the Akuma since his youth. He is also one of the few who contain "Innocence", a substance that allows him to kill Akuma and fight the Earl. With these powers, he joins the Black Priest Organization as an Exorcist and sets out with other Exorcists to stop the Earl's attempts to annihilate the human race.

I personally think it's the best anime I've ever watched.
I highly suggest you watch it in English Subbed.

Best anime you've ever watched? O_o What kind of anime have you been watching? I've seen the whole D.Gray-Man and the ending probably ranks among my most unsatisfying endings of all time. Not to say that the rest was bad, I did enjoy the anime but they never finished it. That, and I think there are way better and shorter anime's out there. K-ON!, Code Geass, Death Note, Naruto are all better in my opinion (even if Naruto's longer I've enjoyed it more).

But that's just me of course, though I still have a hard time understanding why you think it's so good?

It has the best story line and the most lovable characters.
They're developing season 3 now, They just didn't want to stick a whole heap of fillers into it and make it something you'd see on cartoon network (much like those you said)
It's a matter of opinion I guess.

Fillers are appreciated. Especially when they fill every non-filler episode with so much unimportant stuff. That goes for both Naruto and D.Gray-Man. But in my opinion, fillers are essential to long series like these.

Either way, good to know it has a third season coming. It was like hitting the brake 1 meter away from the edge of a cliff when they ended the second season.

Yeah it really was, they sat there and gave you a quick taste then snatched it away.

I'm upto date in the manga though, and I can honestly say, it gets REALLY dark coming up. It'll be worth seeing.

Darker? *sigh* Is that really a direction this series should be going in? I believe a more lighthearted approach would be good when it has so many episodes per season.

No, considering it already has such a light comedy approach there wasn't much they could pull into it.
How do you get deeper into a story of death and world consumption on a lighthearted approach?

I finished this series but I find the pacing too slow and sometimes boring, good thing Crown Clown saved this one for me. Overall I'd say it's a 6/10. Btw, isn't it D.Gray-Man?

Basically because I like character depth before the story of events or a world. The characters right now do have depth, but the change in them haven't been very big. There's also character development which I can't say I've seen a great deal of. Most of the characters have remained the same (except for new powers <.<).

And I guess there's that one more thing... Having a 100+ episodes on a series based on death, destruction and world consumption only gets so far. Some things like how they handle 100+ Level 3 opponents while almost dying from the first one doesn't make much sense either. All opponents from a new level seem overpowered for about two to five espisodes before they become nothing but small irritating bugs to shrug off, I don't like that either.

I'd give the series about the same score as Crono. But these are my likes and dislikes, not yours, so it makes sense for us to disagree. I'm not saying you don't like character development or anything like that though, just saying that I don't feel much of it in the series and that's why I'm not that into it.

I second the motion! The only saving grace for this anime is the good plot (destroyer of time concept) and the style but everything else seems bad, slow as hell pacing, totally useless fillers and boring at that, flawed enemies "All opponents from a new level seem overpowered for about two to five espisodes before they become nothing but small irritating bugs to shrug off". Again, good thing Crown Clown's style and attacks are epic enough for me to finish this series also the other character designs and their uniqueness are good too.

Agreed. I like the overall design of the series and the enemies have very defining and intriguing features. It's like if they lay a great foundation when writing the -pedia for the anime but then, when it came to actually producing the damn thing, they didn't know how to put it together well.

You'll see as it progresses, from the manga it's progression with their strengths are much clearer,
I'd like to hear examples of exactly what you mean so I could elaborate on that.

D.Gray-Man is a wonderful anime to watch. I don't always recommend animes (besides Miracle train ...). I love the "view" of the world in the anime/manga.
I find the story good too actually. The characters are interesting with their own story. My personal favorite has to be Lavi though. Go people watch and maybe read the manga of D.Gray-Man!
I hope you enjoy the series

i recommend reading the manga it's way batter and it goes deeper into the stories the art may change a lot but it still batter then the anime, the anime ended with out tallying us a lot of things but it was a great anime.

and i agree one of the best anime i've watched.

i would not say its one of the best animes i have watched but its up there some were for me the only things that made put this anime down my list were of course the ending nobody likes a ending that just cuts the anime off and the other is the anime is a bit obvious at times for example i could tell he would get some new power that he syncs 100% with after about 10 episodes in but that is just me. apart from that its a anime well worth watching

Disagreed, I don't think he should watch it. It has some characters but they don't get much room for development in the long run. I can't really recommend any other apocalyptic anime's though, so if you're into that I don't know... Desert Punk is an anime I'd recommend though since it has a main character you don't see everyday (I for one had never seen such a main character before Desert Punk). It's a post-apocalyptic anime with a pretty serious undertone while retaining great dark humour.

I did watch all of D.Gray Man though, so I guess I can't say it killed me to watch it. It felt like the final episodes finally got the series somewhere, but the interesting characters don't get much room. I love the clocklady, but she barely has any screentime. :-(

well there is all these good points and bad points about it i reckon for all the people who have not watched it should try and watch the first couple of episodes and make up there own mind but personally i think its an alright anime

Yeah, but I actually liked the first episodes. It's just that they drag it out a bit too much in my opinion... with the story and characterdevelopment.

DARKCLOUDVII

they do drag it out a bit and the anime did not need to be so long but there are alot of other animes that make the same mistake

Yes, I'm not saying that they don't. But I bet he could spend his time watching a better anime.

To be positive though, I believe this anime is awesome when you watch it in small doses. Imagining watching one to three episodes a week doesn't sound to bad for this anime as it'd save you from being bored during the dragged out sequences.

DARKCLOUDVII

that would probably be the best idea it does get boring and rather slow if u watch too many episodes within a short period of time
