Seriously, what is up with this chick's accent?

To me it sounds like 60% American / 30% Australian / 10% Irish or something. Anybody else notice this? What were they going for with it, and does the voice actress really talk like that?

I heard the actress is in fact Australian, but I agree that it sounded weird. I don't know if she really talks like that. Maybe she was directed to just sound like she had an accent of some kind, I dunno.

The Voice Actress said she was trying to suppress her accent during recording. So I'm guessing the person must have a really strong Australian accent.

Suppress it to end up with what result though? The Australian accent in itself, isn't so bad, but when it gets as thick as Steve Irwin, it gets a little weird to listen to, even for Aussies.

I wonder why they picked her as the voice actress then if they instructed her to try to hide her accent anyway? SQEX is by no means a company that can't afford their top choice for voice actor.

If she is in fact Aussie, I would've just preferred she use her full accent. I think the Aussie accent is cool (not the Croc Hunter one, but city accent i.e. Naomi Watts).

Why would she suppress her accent, or at least suppress it so much she no longer sounds austrailian? She and Fang should both have Aussie accents, but nooooo.

She did get better by the end of the game though. In the beginning, she had a different accent every time she opened her mouth

Someone who was born and raised in Australia, but moved to America?
I dislike her accent though, cuz its so high pitched. I have to turn the volume down whenever I use because everyone in the house will sound like im watching a po-err never mind!

It wasn't her accent that made her voice high pitched, it was her voice itself.

Well it seems that the accent runs in the family, as both Vanille and Fang have similar accents. I guess everyone from Gran Pulse is Australian lol.

Note: At the point I'm at in the game, Vanille's accent just turned to pretty much 90% Australian.

so that means Gran Pulse are Australians and Cocoon citizens are Americans :D?

w00t hidden war! bwahahahahaha ^^

but yea, her accent annoyed the crap out of me, and i never really understood why SHE was the one narrating the game.... if it had to be either her or Fang, i wouldve wanted Fang to narrate! Vanille just pissed me off with her "oh im so innocent but its all my fault boohooo"-attitude.....

I agree, Vanille's accent is very weird and very annoying. It's not until later on where you can withstand the accent a little more.

Maybe she was trying to suppress it to give it a different feel? Kinda like a whole new accent.. :x But no, you guys have it all wrong. Americans reside in Cocoon, Australians reside in Pulse and Japanese reside on both lands. Meaning they rule the world. :x

Vanille wasn't a bad person to narrate the story but if they had made her a little less annoying. ie. The random moans and noises, then she would've been much easier to put up with.

I'm wondering what inspired the design though because her character reminds me of the pacific islands. Not only in clothing but even the way she sways her hips (Island dancing FTW XD)

so that means Gran Pulse are Australians and Cocoon citizens are Americans :D?

To boost this idea you could say that Gran Pulse is the land down under? :P

About the voice, I heard they wanted australlian accents for Fang and Vanille to give a sense that the people of Pulse where more in touch with nature. That said I will agree she sounds weird at times and the voice is itself a total distraction, but I never saw Vanille as nothing more then a piece of virtual TnA (Maybe I sounded a bit harsh there (sorry Vanille fans), she has that whole moment where she's trying to bury her guilt for being the reason Sazh's son was turned into a L'Cie but it wasn't enough to keep her fresh in my memory)
