Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded is the DS remake of the JP-Only title made for cell phones.

The story takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts II, where Jiminy Cricket and King Mickey are archiving the Jiminy Memo of Sora's adventures. While leafing through the journals, they find a mysterious message...


"Their hurting will be mended when you return to end it."

To make heads or tails of the message, they enter the journals into a database, only for it to become corrupted, with some of the information rendered unreadable. They then task the Data Sora to go through the digital journals, removing bugs and investigating the the meaning behind the mysterious message.

It looks like it will use a combat system very similar to Birth by Sleep, using normal attacks and Dodge Rolls while magic and special abilities like Strike Raid are used with the cool-down system. Although the gameplay seems to take several different turns, since just from that video we see the normal KH gameplay, a turn-based encounter system, some Mario-style platforming, stealth, and some rail shooting-esque events.

If it's Kingdom hearts, I want it. But not 358/2 days because that was kind of a lame side story.

Hey, I loved 358/2 Days. I wanted to know why the hell Roxas left the Organization, and what they told was incredible, and made me like Roxas even more.

As for Re:Coded, I'm rather excited, because it looks like a great amalgamation of such different styles rolled up into one. Plus, I always loved their representation of digital mediums in Kingdom Hearts, so it'll be cool to see a game built around that digital styling.

The only thing I'm not keen on is the lame portrait conversations. I hate that:( I would've rather just had the in-game models with speech bubbles, like in the old days.

I can't help but wonder why squeenix seems to think we need a recap of the story in between each real installment.

On a side note I like the idea of having some more platformy bits like KH1.

It's not exactly a recap, Data Sora is just going through the same worlds. This is sort of like Kingdom Hearts 2.5, in the way Chain of Memories was Kingdom Hearts 1.5.

Coded actually sort of sets up what's to happen in the third game, as the events of this game give hints as to what that letter is that Sora, Riku, and Kairi received at the end of Kingdom Hearts II.

Pretty much. An in-between game that will help explain some of the stuff that will probably be questioned in Kingdom Hearts III (Whenever it's announced/released).

I'm slowly getting more excited about Re:Coded. Since I've got an R4 Card now, I can't wait till it comes out in Japan in October. I wonder if someone will translate it, too :confused:

Playing the game now after it came out a couple of days ago, I just finished Hollow Bastion.

Well, I saw the ending sequences on a Jtv stream the other day. The viewers were morons though "I hate Aqua. Such a know-it-all, stuck up bitch, especially all her interactiogs with Ven and Terra" *facepalm*

Oh but yes, the ending sequences; it looked like it screamed Ending Fatigue to me. You look like you're finally done, but WHAM and SLAM and BAM and the Hoiviin!!

I dunno if this game is worth getting, actually. I have no idea if it really contributes anything worthwhile to the Canon.

I have a really cruddy look Stat Matrix map that I've been filling in as I play, I could upload it if anyone needs it for references on what Ability Terminals are where (that's why I made it :p).

As for the journal "turning into Riku..."the Journal just manifests itself as Riku, as someone familiar.

And yeah, the game sorta leads into KH3D and Kingdom Hearts 3.

I like the game so far, just got into revisiting the Worlds after Hollow Bastion. It's a nice amalgamation of the Command Deck system, and the Stat Matrix is interesting. Plus, the Command Matrix was a nice touch, allowing you to see what you've made when you put two commands together, and being able to change them whenever you want. I'm not sure how it happened, but I have a level 65 Round Blitz, and it has been a huge helped to me for the number of times you get surrounded by enemies in this game. So far my deck is...

Rising Rush - Great finisher to a ground combo that knocks the opponent in the air, where you can continue with an air combo
Round Blitz - Totally saves your butt when you get surrounded
Air Spiral - A nice combo finisher
Strike Raid - Great for distance, two hits. Aim it correctly and you can hit a line of enemies with one swing
Firaga Burst - I got this at a low level somehow, and used it ever since. Powerful, fast-flying fireball with a decent-size explosion

I also just started using Magnet, because it's great to clump the enemies together and clobber them with something like a Thunder spell or an air combo and so other attacks.

Finished the game last night, don't think I'd continue playing as system Sectors have really begun to annoy me, and all the quests are in them.

I used Spark Sweep, some Aerial Forward Lunge, some Aero Slash thing and 3 Curagas.
