I wonder if this should go here...?
Anyway I'd just like to note that the overly large signatures have once again returned to the forums (though perhaps some would call them "alternately proportioned" or that they've been around for a while) and was wondering if anyone would be willing to address this.

That's probably because we don't have any mods willing to resort to, erm, extreme measures. Nobody remember this?:

I don't really have a problem with the oversized signatures being that I really only view the forum on a computer. That said, I'd be all for the employment of my old Gunther sig, too

...So, just so we're clear, nobody gives a hoot?

I might be stretching it a bit, but the overall lack of response is most likely the equivalent to "Yes, we don't care at all."

I think as long as it doesn't stretch the screen or break the 500x200 rule (I mean, as long as it's under that pixel count), people are fine with it. I'm assuming.
I haven't had problems with other people's sigs so far.

SIZE MAH BOY? LEMME TELL YOU 'BOUT SIZE.
Isn't it the boy's way? The larger your sig, the larger your penis, or some such assumption.

Maybe we could have some people that are especifically tasked with moderating sigs and stuff? Like, give them powers to modify signatures only (not the rest of mod powers). I don't know if that's possible, though.

The funny thing is, the few people I remember (not going to say who) who have overly tall signatures are girls... =p

I recall a few people with tall sigs, yeah. Generally not huge as far as pixel count, just sort of tall instead of wide, and that in itself can get annoying, unfortunately.
As to the people with sig changing powers, I don't think that's possible, unless maybe you give the power to community leaders. Still, it only takes one or two people to change the required people's signatures. Just thread surf as usual and when you see it, send the person a PM. That's all I did. And keep the people's name to check back on them. If they didn't change it, change it for them.
Oh and in case it wasn't implied, the 'one or two people' means global mods, since they're the people who automatically have the power.
Regardless, if the community doesn't really care, than it's not worth the effort. Globals tend to have a somewhat busy schedule to keep up with, so any corners that can be cut may as well be cut :p

If the Global Moderators or Mass are too busy to bother with enforcing the signature restrictions what's the point of us having it then? The given explanation is to be conscientious of our fellow forum members, but without any enforcement of this particular rule it might as well not exist at all.

If it bothers you that much, you can always just report the offending user to the staff. That way they're directly presented with the problem instead of them having to go about their ways looking for it.
Though I personally haven't really seen anyone with an obnoxiously large enough sig to require reporting.

A while ago, I sent a bunch of names to someone about everyone who had oversize sigs. I'm not sure what happened with it. A while ago being like, 3~4 months.

Most of the time people report "oversized sigs" the signature surpasses the limit, but doesn't in any way, shape, or form kill a browser as bad as the header does. It's stupid to say you limit sig size in order to prevent a page from being stretched or someone being considerably slowed by them and then just slap a generic pixel limit.

i think Knock's is the only one that's really annoying since it stretches way too much horizontally, making it completely annoying to read her thread. Other than that, I never considered it a big deal. If it's massive, do what TKG and others did and just put it in a spoiler or something

You must have a small monitor then. I'm able to see signatures 701 wide before I get any stretching... woo, 1366*768 monitor.

Well I can address that problem with the stretching of some signatures.
For some reason, if your code is side by side then yes, it will stretch the forum for SOME users. For those that remember, Fox complained about two signatures I had before, apparently they stretched the screen. Even though for me, I couldn't see it.. he could. The answer is simply fixing this
So Knocks just might need to check for something like that. (The first situation being the wrong one and the second being right.
And yes, I'm aware that mine is longer than what it should be but I can fix that and was planning to anyway, it was just taking awhile. D:
However SA has the best solution. If anybody has a problem with somebodies signature then alert the staff and we can get onto it.

Well now that the signature has changed your complaint has become void.
I don't think that there's anything else that needs to be said in this thread anymore. Plain and simple, if you have an issue just address one of the staff members. I know that Mass and Dave are busy right now so requests might take awhile especially seeing as Spyder seems to be the only one who can deal with the issue of forcibly changing sigs. D:
