Ali Hillis [Lightning] is up there with David Hayter [Archive]

So, everyone has those voice actors that they love. One of my favorite of all time being David Hayter [Solid Snake], not only for being a phenomenal voice actor, but for having an active interest in what he does. Plays Metal Gear games, and he even wrote a screenplay for the movie (which got rejected, which is retarded :/).

Ali Hillis, who plays Lightning, is now on my top list of favorite voice actors as well. She falls into the same category as good ol' Snake. She's interested in the game that she acted for, plays it, and even has a l'Cie tatoo now.

seriously wow... i have lots more respect for Lightnings VA now <_<..... and lol steelguard xD moron....... funny... but when she mentioned that someone said she resembles Lightning a bit, i could actually see why someone would say that (probably in spirit more than actual resemblance but), i think certain parts of her face does resemble her (though Lightning would never smile anywhere near that much xD). AND WOHOOOO TO THE (FAKE)TATTOO

but Vanille's VA.... i still hate just as much.... she looks more irritating in real life than she seems when hearing her in FF13 imo.... too sugar sweet, u might end up vomitting....

Serah's VA looks and sounds sweet IRL :3 i'd hit that... right in the abdomen *FALCON PAWNCH!!!* didnt realise she does the english Shin-Chan, i loved that series xD and CoD too? cool :D

To be fair, the director did a good job with almost every character BUT Vanille. They're really both at fault.

Also, yes, I really like Lightning's voice actress. Snow's actor - Troy Baker or Travis Baker? Can't recall - seems like a really cool guy too.

Well, really I've heard interviews from all of them except for Sazh and Hope, interestingly enough.

I liked her before she had the tattoo when I heard the interview where she mentioned she didn't even realise Lightning was the protagonist :rolleyes:. I dunno, I guess people just like how she doesn't seem so cold and distant as Lightning or whatever reasons they have.

It's not that we didn't respect her before (Or at least me; I can't speak for everyone), but getting the Tattoo shows that she's committed to the role, as opposed to, say, Yuri Lowenthal who, while I do like him, seems to be spread out pretty far without much variation and commitment to his roles. Laura Bailey, while I really enjoy her too, seems to have about 2-4 ranges of character voices: Her bubbly teen Voice(Rise Kujikawa, Chun Li, etc), Her sexy voice (Lust, Cloud of Darkness), the mix of the 2 (Reimi and Welch), and her boy voice (Shin-chan).

Lisa Ortiz is my favorite VA, but Crispin Freeman and Mike Reynolds (whom I have met) come to a very close tie for second.

The new Metal Gear being released is also assumed to have David Hayter in it.
It's Metal Gear Rising by the way, although I'm sure this is already well-known.

I would still put David Hayter over Ali Hillis in my opinion. But they're both great. They both really made their characters shine. The fact that they're both active within their own series is a major plus, too.

Really? It was hard to hear the voices legitimately. You know, it being PSX and all.

Yeah, while the tattoo is cool and all, I think her performances are what gives her the most merit. She was wonderful as Liara in Mass Effect.

Well, I'm not saying that "OMG she haz tattoo. She's awesome." I already liked her a lot as a voice actor, but hearing that she's actually interested in the games she provides voice work for, and plays them, and then loved a character/game enough to want to get a tattoo from it, it puts her up there higher on the list she's already on.

I guess it's sorta like how I like method actors, or people who can really get into character and enjoy the acting work they are doing. So many just seem to go through the motions, so it's nice to see those who actively have an interest in what they are a part of besides it just being a job.

Considering the other english Lina VA (can't remember her name) from ADV, I much prefer Lisa Ortiz. Besides, she was also Deedlit from Record of Lodoss War, Fuu in the OVA dub of Rayearth, and Azalyn in Irresponsible Captain Tyler. She also voices Amy from the Sonic games. She's awesome.

Wow, I'm really surprised by the commitment of Ali Hillis to the character and expected her to act y'know, colder regarding the work. Funny how we tend to think of the VAs personalities being the same as the characters they're portraying. Luckily it works the other way around to and I hope Lightning will get at least one LIGHThearted scene in 012. Seems unlikely... let's wait for FXIII-2....

I love Laura Bailey, hearing her sexy voice in FMA as Lust made me start playing as CoD. Bailey's also really hot *cough cough*

Though shame the guy who originally did Mortanius and the Elder God AND Voiced Frollo from the Hunchback from Notre Dame died. =/

Get better speakers because I can hear it fine as can all my other friends who have played those games.
