The 3rd Birthday: Story Explanation

And... Guess who's back!
I know I said I'd have a break from dissidia, but I'm here to talk about the story that is the third birthday!
I just finished the 3rd birthday and I loved the story.
Sure, it was somehow confusing, but if you put all the pieces together (including al the written reports), I think it's a little masterpiece.
If you do not understand things about the story, feel free to ask it here and I'll be happy to explain it to you.

I will then update this post with the asked question(s), along with the answer(s).

Anyway.. No comments on why I finished the EUR game before the release date =P

It really doesn't. Some characters from past parasite eve games do appear, but you really don't need any information from the past games to understand this storylines. As far as I know, there are even hardly any connections between the games, aside from some re-appearing characters....

After all, this game's biggest purpose is to get people into the parasite eve series.

Also.. I don't really agree with you: Of course we're not playing with Aya Brea, but that doesn't just mean Eve's personality is weak. She was simply confused because she didn't know who she was and didn't have any memories.

well yeah given she's confused and stuff, but it's also given that she's not really as "strong" when compared to her big sis aya's personality, eve even admitted this in the ending ("your always so strong").. she's kinda like terra...
but hey! i have nothing against eve XD, in fact i like her (reminds me of my sister lol), and i'm already looking forward to what character development will happen to her in the "4th" birthday :D

Sorry for the late response, but here's your answer: All the trouble started at 'time zero.' As you know, time zero takes place at christmas 2010, 23 december. On this very day, Kyle Madigan and Aya Brea are getting married. They exchange rings (I'm sure you've seen Aya's ring multiple times throughout the game), promise that they'll always be together and both answer with 'yes'. Suddenly, a squad enters and guns them down. Eve, who was congratulating them seconds ago, cannot believe her eyes. Kneeling on the floor, she gazes terrified at Aya. Aya struggles to stay alive, grabs her gun, accidentely pointing it at Eve, but she manages to kill the entire squad. Her terrible wounds and this exertion are too much for her and she falls unconscious. Eve panicks and, the desperate will to save her makes her soul and her psyches extremely tense, causing her to dive into Aya's body: Overdive is born.
Meanwhile, Cray and Gabrielle are trying to break the door open, because of the shooting they heard.
The situation inside the church is horrible: Eve's attempt to save Aya caused her soul to be destroyed and her soul memories are scattered among the world. These form the creatures we call 'the twisted.'
Eya (I'll call Aya with Eve's soul this for a while to prevent confusion) cannot handle what's just happened. Her sister was killed and she's the one to blame. Confused by everything that's happened, weakened by unbelief and touched by trauma, she cannot remember anything. Except for the name of the person she tried to save so desperately: Ay... Aya Brea.

Meanwhile, Cray and Gabrielle manage to break and Hyde joins them. They speed through the room and reach Eve (not knowing her soul is already gone) and try to talk to her. Eve's body falls apart and Cray, Gabrielle, Hyde and Kyle (he wasn't dead yet) are affected by her cells. They inhibit some of her memories, her skills (like the skill to overdive) and more. 'The high ones' are born. Hyde 'finds' Eya and takes her 'under his care'.

This actually explainse the title of the game. The game starts on 23 December 2013. Time zero happened exactly 3 years ago. And guess what day this is? It's Eya's 3rd Birthday.

I like your theory. But the strange thing here (I also found this a somehow 'strange' (or is weak the right word) part of the story) is that Aya had totally no influence on the situation, neither had Eya. You've spent he whole game with ths Eya to see her travelling back in time, but then, she simple seems to disappear. The one who changes the cycle here, is Hyde, because he tells Eve not to overdive. This is what caused the cycle to end and I know Aya (normal or with memory loss) shot him after that, but that didn't change the cycle; it only prevented something bad would happen after the cycle had already been cut by Hyde. Now, there are some things that even I didn't get after seeing this ending twice. It seems Eve, nor Aya and Eya have ANY influence on what's happening here. The only person that changes the situation (with bad purposes) is Hyde. But if Hyde is the only one who can influence the situation, how then did everyone end up in a cycle?
I think I got that answer now, thanks to you.
In this cycle, Eya used this end-game overdive to get in past's Eve's body and the twisted used this overdive to get in past Aya's body. With this, the cycle is endless and will forever be repeated.
The only question left is what event caused Hyde to stop this ''endless'' cycle, for he isn't a part of a cycle because his actions break the cycle.

phew... That was a bit complicated and I hope it's possible to understand what I've just written down. If so, please speculate on the remaining mystery what caused Hyde to break the cycle and why he didn't break it before.

EDIT:Oh, and one more thing: why does Hyde get to change the past while he said only one can enter time zero? Eya really beat the cr*p out of him in 3 fights! The only possible explanation for the fact that Hyde changes time zero and Eya doesn't seem to be present, is that Eya lost the fight, which is just UNFAIR XD.

Number 1!

As you progress through the game and you see Kyle and Eve several times. Ok like the time when Aya tries to hug Eve but then Eve dissapears. Was that like a ghost of Eve or like a memory of Aya's that was visualized. Also at some point s you see Eve with the face of a Twisted, even when you hear the solders talk (I think it was in Operation: Red Fog Incident.) about seeing a little girl with the face of a Twisted.

I'm trying to think that the image of Eve several times was a memory of Aya's that was turning into a Twisted slowly. This I'm rather unsure about so can someone please clear that up for me? lol.

Number 2!

Where the Twisted Overdive back in time. Since it's stated that the Twisted are born as a result of Aya's memories lost throughout space and time, are they merely just going back into the past to re-unite with Aya's body thus bringing her back at the end of the game? But Hyde's intension was to stop it and make his plans become real? And like the Twisted trying to destroy Eya (That's from another post. lol.), were they just Aya's memories preventing the cycle of the past changing? Ok you can see that I'm quite confused about this :confused:

I was told at the end of the credits roll. You see Eve walking down the street in NY and then A person with a Brown jacket and hair like Aya's.... Ok most of you know what I'm talking about. Everyone here thinks that's Aya right? But did she Overdive into another persons body or is she really back? And can Eve still Overdive? I want a sequel dammit!!!:p

The ending's twist really KO'ed me but it was a good one at that. Just can't get it out of my head now http://www.rs25.com/forums/images/smilies/facepalm.gif
I think this could be a chance to make another sequel, if not then probably a CGI movie or anime like the cut scenes to fill some holes and continue the story. What do you guys think?

Number 1: I'd love to clear this up for you, but it's been a long while since I've finished this game. I'm pretty certain I used to have a theory for tha (I mean, It IS kinda strange) But right now, I don't seem to remember it, sorry

Number 2: Are you referring to the part where Hyde gets shot by a ''suddenly alive'' Aya (the one and only)? If you are, then I don't agree with your theory. Aya was still alive all the time, but she originally died (at time zero) when Eve overdived into her with desperate desire to save her, which crushed her soul. When Hyde stopped Eve from overdiving, Aya didn't die.

Number 3:There's defenitely gonna be a sequel. This game left everyone a lot of questions and overall, some events were extremely vague. It's gonna need some explanation, which is the perfect cliffhanger for this psp-title and the perfect starter for someone who didn't play the psp-title, since it's gonna be 'explained.'

And another thing, How do I carry over all my stuff from the 1st time I played round to the second time? I restarted on normal but all I got was was the maid costume and nothing else. Did I do something wrong?

Did you load the final game save?
If you load the save file which says something like 'game completed', then you can start a new game and carry content over.

Well I started it again normal (Preping my weapons and stuff for hard.), had a boring day yesterday so i just played, already halfway through, got one of the special weapons, I'm upgrading my other weapons (Pretty powerful now.) and I'm quite happy with my DNA Board Combo. I must say that in the 2nd playthrough and with the forum help I'm starting to get the story more. Just trying to figure out Eve with the face of a Twisted.

I came to the conclusion that the reason why you see Eve with the face of a Twisted is because of a result of her Mitochondrial powers. Now I can finally sleep at night lol.
