So am I the only one or does anyone usually mess up whenever this happens?
I sometimes can do the combos when I get interrupted by either but for the most part I just fail and do a the launch combo instead of the wall rush one.

Depends on the timing, but yeah, sometimes it screws things up.

There is a good chance that you're using audible cues or relying on muscle memory to do your combos. If you focus more on Jechts visual cues, you'll notice two things:
- combo success rate increase
- breaks and summons actually increase the likelihood of continuing the combo proper to your intentions thanks to the pause letting you see his exact point in the animation
Oh, and it'll help a TON with online play.
But yeah, I had a hard time with that starting out. It just takes practice and dedication. You'll get it as long as you put the time in and focus on how he looks at certain points rather than what you hear or "feel".

Veysey said it.
I combine visual and audio clues. It's kind of stupid, but with audio clues, this is what goes on in my head:
Aerial Combo: I count to two (quickly) then press O, and I get this right 10/10 because I do this so much. On the next part of the combo, I count to 3 really quickly, press O, if I stay neutral, I count to 3 quickly and press [] or if I go down, I count to 2 slowly and press down []. This probably makes a lot more sense to me than when I tell it to you, but just try the combo once counting out the beats in your head, and it makes sense after awhile. Also, visual cues help soooo much. When it comes to online battles, you pretty much need to drop all audio clues and rely on visuals with very few audios.
Hmm, it's a lot easier to try to explain than to make you understand, because even as I'm typing all this, I have a feeling it's really confusing.

Tell you the truth, I have no idea how I pull of his combos, I don't think I just know when to push the button. It's weird really once I start thinking about when to push the button I just mess up the only time I use a visual cue is when I'm doing his Triumphant Grasp combo. But still, when it's two summons in a row and a Break in between that's just a combo killer for me.

It depends, sometimes I can, but other times I can't do it right... =P

One good way to get good at looking at the visual cues is by playing with your game on mute and see how many combos you can land. Try not to use a rhythm or whatever though, I know its hard, as thats what I do. Once, a friend asked how I do the Jecht combos, I couldnt even tell him. I just know, you know? I'm not perfect but I usually land the combos around 95% of the time, HP links around 90%, except Blade is 99% probably lol.....and I can't explain it to anyone. X|

I say what he says to myself as I'm doing them. Works fine for me, and summons+break don't mess me up as well. I used to go by muscale memory though. They'd screw me over every time.

Each one of his branches except aerial Stream has this over exaggerated animation - that (incidentally) is where you hit the combo... so I just watch for those *shrugs shoulders*

I watch for the pause in his animation, there's a certain pause that he has in each string of the combo. That's when you press O. For me it works anyways.

I'm certain you're talking about the same thing as I am. Except it isn't a pause per say, more that he's just very exaggerated in his animation at that point. Either way, the point is, he's easy to combo based on visual cues and the only thing that hurts is adjusting to input delay situations online.
