It looks like you are fighting CPU and the match is pretty short so not much advice I can give. A mistimed assist use in the beginning, but you were able to make up for it, and a timely burst when you were almost out of ex mode was pretty good idea, although bursting on first innocence would have been better as the chance of hitting the next one right after was a gamble.

So, since I can't get on Adhoc at school, I can only play CPUs right now... Any advice would be highly appreciated however.

I liked how you used Kuja assist with Gab. I usually go with Jecht, but Kuja seems to be great as well. Also, when reflecting Watara you can use Relentless Lunge on the ground instead of a block.

You can do that :eek:... Does it cause stagger? I'm assuming it does. I tried using Jecht quite a while ago, but I didn't really like the fact he often pushed my opponent too far away with his combos, making it much harder to land an HP attack (if only they didn't nerf both Innocents range...). Then again, I haven't tried him since I first got the game back in March (I currently only use him on my Vaan), so my ability to use him correctly with Gabranth might be better.

In DDFF it's on par with Sentence. Gives you the most ex-forces (90) and is much improved than in the old game. Lunge is also something I noticed rocks for Gabranth now. No more useless non-ex mode moves.

Agreed on lunge for sure.

Since excharging on the ground is wicked fast, lunge is the tool you need to tell someone to gtfo while you do it.

To be honest with my fellow Gabranth users,I thought Gabranth had no place in this game when my ex mode would just be taken away by a assist,my friends play with a ruleset that doesn't allow any equipment's,stage brv gain,or resins,aside from assist break in Ex,and I felt out classed as a user of him.But I found a way,and Gabranth is back!!!!!! wooooot!!

It certainly did look like it so it confused me as it seemed you were implying a PvP.

I would suggest Jecht or Kuja as an assist since you can make nice combos and guaranteed hp damage that way. Also against real Squallers out there, you will be zoned as Gabranth so landing moves like VoJ would be pretty hard. Nice to have you onboard too, and PvP videos are usually a lot more valued if you wanna share epic battles. Looking forward to seeing you participate in tourneys and such if possible.

I'm defiantly going to be some tourney's when I get out of classes,and I'll give you a vid when I fight my friend's Squall,bastard is tough but with this new build I should at least leave a dent,but i'll try to just make it Ex boosting I guess instead of straight.I use either Jecht or Kuja for all my other mains,I'm tired of seeing them lol,I'mma try CoD or Kuja as my Cecil is the only one using Kuja at the moment,but its annoying when you and your friend use your same assist on you at the same time lol But thanks for the advice!

I'm no Gabranth mainer, but I did notice one MAJOR thing that you did, and that was using your EX mode IMEDIATLEY upon gaining the ability to use it, and once you almost got nothing out of it, 2:47 - 3:15 could have been a EPICLY MASSIVE, HUGE waste of potential power had you not gotten lucky(?) with that last hit and him assist changing.

Also if you can try to stick to the ground EX charge, faster charge time. Oh also are you using some anti-EX accessories, I remember something can in fact weaken your EX charge power, but I don't remember what it was.

EX Charge is only effected by -x% EX Force Absorption effects.

M-kay, 4 months since the last post in the Gabranth video thread O_O. Time for a contribution :)
Here's a few notes beforehand:
-I just decided to pick him up a few days ago
-In these replays I have the Judgement set(As of yet I dont have one piece of the Genji Set so I dealt with it, which has now donned upon me that Judgement is a big no-no for Gabranth imo)
-I do feel that the 4 replays here are entertaining to some extent and I purposely posted fails in the second vid so that I can get advice and whatnot

You're spacing incorrectly in a game in which spacing options are severely limited. You dodge when the opponent is very far away, jump and dash toward them, EX Charge for a split second and stop when they start a dash from afar, etc. All this serves is to slow your EX gain and boost the opponent's assist gain. If you want to space, you've got two main methods. Precision Jumping and Descent Speed Boost against melee characters; continual Omni Air Dashing away from an opponent who also has OAD or if you have SnL. I also think you would benefit from learning when to hold your EX Charge because I noticed you just tap it and then do something else, which gets you punished quite a lot.

It's a waste to enter EX as Gabranth when assist locked or when you have an empty assist bar. There were plenty of times like this when you entered EX when the opponent was very far away. Those are good opportunities to build assist. Also, once you have assist and EX, Sentence or an EX attack is better than using Circle of Judgment, which is difficult to assist combo into. You can't count on every opponent rushing you when you're in EX because any mid level player is smarter than that. The same applies to the opponent equipping a good assist.

Practice your spacing, when to build assist, how long to charge, and when to play defense and offense. I also suggest learning how to use an EXR build on Gabranth.

Though I'm trying to learn Gabranth myself, I'm not the one to give an in depth critique but I can say a few things:

- I understand that the stage can either make things easier or harder for Gabranth such as with Pandemineum=too little space,Paradox=take advantage of the vertical space, which is what you didnt do enough of in Paradox when charging EX. And for that:

in stages like Paradox you should have been making your way to the top of the stage to charge your EX and when a melee character like Tidus gets close, you make your to the bottom of the stage. Spacing....

-IMO the only reason you should make your way to an EX Core is if you're closer to it than your opponent. If they're making a break for the core, dont worry, just charge EX while they're dashing away.

-In your matches, when you're out of EX, to me, it appears that your opponent called his AST(BVR attack) to force a dodge out of you.
Dont dodge........block. Especially if calls an AST while he's at a distance or as in 8:50 where there was an obstacle between him and you.

And if you want more advice for Gabranth, I recommend asking Hollowed and/or Draec Khin(two good Gabby players).

In your fights I see that you DC out of your attacks to EX charge. EX charge canceling out of your moves is faster. There's a thread on it if you're interested.

Summon: Alexander. Assist: Jecht or Kuja. A second Hatred can be used rather than Execution. For the midair wall rush combo, it's important to call your assist as soon as you can dodge cancel, as shown in the video.

True,but I think the damage Gabranth does in EX makes this combo much more accesible to pull off. A good Gabranth player can easily get 4000+ damage in the first EX from damage and break. Also, if you get 5000+ in the first EX you can win with a HP and a burst. What I'm trying to say is that despite this combo being usable by every character, Gabranth has the power to make this a match winning attack within the first 2 minutes. Isn't it about time Gabranth got some love?

I would have to agree with you Nero Romulus and for the case of Gabranth it can happen very early in the match compared to other characters; to pull this off with Gabranth does not require any special build as would be needed for other characters. His early access to ex mode makes it more deadly. Gabranth can do this in the first 30 seconds of the match without anything special when it comes to builds.

yeah this combo is pretty much the easiest to do,I do mine with 3k by out prediction with Rupture,wait for them to dodge,Hatred,wall rush,Kain assist or whoever,Execution or Innocence(timed) or another Hatred if aerial,and then Ex attack=game,pretty easy,can be done faster if you forsake health regen for brv and attack twice with anything.Also very cheap with resins(which are very cheap),I can hit for two 6k's? plus if I put Lufians on?you dead lol
