So, after playing through Treachery of the Gods (012 story), Light to All (013 story), and Confessions of the Creator (000 story), I'd gotten pretty used to the orbs of light scattered throughout the world map. However, I also began to notice a pattern. You actually get a different chain skill from collecting these orbs depending on which type of "power of the dead" you started your little "chain" with.

Blinding = Cross Chain
Bright = Straight Chain
Celestial = Multichain
Faint = Jump Chain
Frail = Round Chain

I'll update this list if I find out about any other powers or if my information is incorrect.

It was explained vaguely in-game. What we'd like to know is,

1. Is it possible to determine the kind of "Power of the Dead" (if it's Radiant, Frail, Faint, etc.) BEFORE getting the first orb?
2. Are the rates of choosing a Power of the Dead equal, or is one higher than the other? (ie, you are more likely to get Frail more than Radiant)

The chain can also be upgraded when you collect more of the powers. The order is Frail, Faint, Bright, Blinding and Celestial.

1. I think it's random.
2. I think there are different rates, but I can't be sure.

Yeah, I don't have extensive information on this subject. I can't access information like other members can, like frame rate and stuff like that, but I do what I can!

What do you mean by this, exactly?

What I mean is, that if you get a, say, Faint power of the Dead as your first in the chain of 4, the next one may be either another Faint one or a stage better, Bright power of the Dead. So you'd have a Bright power and 2/4 chained. The next one could be another Bright, or a Blinding power. Let's say it's a Blinding power, then it's 3/4 chained, and if it didn't upgrade again at 4/4 you'd get a Cross Chain.

I don't think that's how it works. I'm pretty sure that once you get one type of Power of the Dead, you stay on that "path" until you get the intended chain skill. Do you have a video that shows what you're referring to?

I've had my chain change mid-collection before. That seems like a plausible theory.
