I mean, what the heck? Not only was the attack called Guilt in the last game, but it was even in FFXII used by Gabranth. So why did they randomly decide to change it to Execution?

Also, Guilt sounds a lot cooler than Execution IMO.

I didn't even notice it until someone mentioned it in a thread about reflecting Innocence. It does seem a tad odd, I can't really figure out why they'd change it. It's not like it makes more sense as a name, sounds better or is even more PC. It's just random o.O

Does it entirely matter if it's called Guilt or Execution?

Meh. Tbh, I like the name Execution =w="

I think it was changed because the move was changed from having an explosion even if it didn't connect to having no explosion on miss.

Although I do agree, the name change is odd but rather pointless overall, but I do dislike how they removed the explosion as it just makes it THAT much harder to land an HP with him :(

Execution (エグゼクション) is the japanese name since DFF. Why they suddenly decided to change the English name from Guilt is beyond me, though.

Not related to Gabranth but on the topic of name changes, Bartz's and Exdeath's EX bursts were also renamed to Master Mime and Power of the Void, respectively. I liked the long names. :< But I guess they were quite a mouthful...

I liked Rapid-Fire-Dual-Wield-Spell-Blade (as I call it) of the SHINING SQUIRREL! and the stupidly long name for Exdeath's better as well, but it's all probably for simplicity and to decrease the confusion that I think isn't/wasn't even there.

SE US must of lost their translators or something.
Have you looked at Dreary Cell?
Melancholy Prison > Dreary Cell
Guilt > Execution.

The only explanation I can think of, is because somebody thought of Judge Magister, and automatically though "Executioner"
And I do agree that Guilt is a lot cooler than Execution.

I always thought Dreary Cell was a reference to the Dreadnought, but that may be just me.

Gives him less downtime, so this is good for the new Gabranth. Besides, Guilt was hard to connect with in the first game, so the auto explosion isnt such a big deal imo.

I guess it does make sense in that he's the EXecutioner.

But it doesn't make sense in that it was called Guilt ALL THE WAY BACK IN FFXII.

What does he say when he uses Execution in comparison to what he says when he uses Guilt?

I like Execution too, but yes, I like Guilt better as the move's name. Although the name became a little worse, I like the change brought to the move.

Ahh...yes, I clearly remember that. Exdeath was my all-time main in Dissidia. I surely miss the 'The laws of the Universe mean nothing!'.

Dreary Cell actually makes sense, though. It's a common term. Melancholy Prison is not.

Aren't Melancholy and Dreary synonyms anyhow?

Pretty much, it's just that no one ever says, "This is such a melancholy prison," or "Enjoy your melancholy prison," etc.

I know Guilt was named "Exekution" in the german version of the first Dissidia. Just a guess, but i guess you know what that menas.
Anyway, that attack looks like an execution to me. But Except of that, the attack names where screwed in the german version. Sentence was called Aircut, though fitting, it destroyed the meaning of his attack names in relation to his character in FFXII.
