Well it's hard for me to say, because I've never tried the Bamboo myself, only the Intuos series. Wacom is the leading company for drawing tablets though, so I would think even their cheaper models are very good. Sorry I can't be too much help in this area.
Does Intuos4 have alot that Bamboo does not? Overreading / hearing Galadín and you
I'm not 100% sure on all symbols, but I know at least some can be used. We have a couple of members who have Japanese characters in their names, so I'd imagine most are possible.
