I made a video demonstrating a few things you can do with this stage shift, alot of them are from Onion Knight and character's with long duration HP or BRV attacks.

"Producer Hiroyuki Takahashi says in an interview in the Japanese-language famitsu magazine that unlike the two Game Boy Advance Golden Sun games, Dark Dawn is a stand-alone title. However, as he says, they will "try to bring [the player] the enjoyment of imagining what the world will be like after the story ends. " He also says "the first two games are prologues of this series. From this game on, it's the main story."

So it seems the first two games we enjoyed so much were only a build up to what the true plot is or is going to be. This actually got me really excited and I think if this is the truth, they did one hell of a job with this series.

Apparently it has been confirmed for 70+ Djinn in this title, much lke in GS2 where they had eight playable characters and 72 Djinn. I'd assume there doing it again for this one. I found a picture with what looked like to be the top of a fifth characters hat and forehead, with a few equipped Djinn. Could this mean we'll be having eight playable characters with nine Djinn per character again? I hope so.

In E3 2009, there was some teaser text released, and what follows is what is known of that text:

"...of a disaster the likes of which had never been seen before.
The heavens stormed. The lands quaked. The seas raged. Across the land, people prepared for the end of the world.
The tale spread that this calamity was caused by some unknown soul who had released a forbidden power upon the world.

"A generation has passed since the Golden Sun rose above Weyard..."

The trailer shows that the embodiment and/or result of whatever it was that "has gone wrong" is the appearance of dark spheres across Weyard that may be akin to black holes, such as near one town that the playable characters and some NPCs are seen watching. These are described by Nintendo's E3 press release as Psynergy Vortexes that suck in all Psynergy from both Adepts and the land itself, and the plot initially concerns the main characters being drawn into the mystery behind these phenomena.

So, you can either ask a question about the Compilation and I can answer it or someone else can. Or if you just want to prove a point here. Inconsistancies, plot holes, confusing stuff whatever. Plus, if you don't like how I analysize a question or statement, you don't have to believe me. But I do have a source for everything I say.

Note: If Square Enix has said out right in one of thier materials an answer to your question, I will give you that answer with an explaination. If it is something along the lines of miscellaneous (an example of an already given one: "what happened to the Gunblades between CC and FFVII") that they haven't answered or TRIED to answer, I will give you my best educated analysis of it WITH an explaination of why I think that.
