"A magus of supreme darkness, born from a great evil sealed into a tree."

Exdeath can be one of the most defensive characters in Dissidia 012: Duodecim and is easily one of the most underplayed and misunderstood characters in Dissidia. He is rather deadly once a person becomes a Master of the Void. He also has one of the best Assist Games in Duodecim.

He uses a large arsenal that consists of defenses that block all kinds of attacks his enemies throw at him with the added inclusion of most HP Attacks. The attacks he can't block are those with “Unblockable Priority”. Another downside is that he literally WALKS when he's moving on the Ground and Dashes and Quickmoves at a SLOW speed, making it difficult to obtain EX Cores and at times making him a target for Rushdown characters like Prishe and Jecht.

"Feel the Void!" - Exdeath's Arsenal of BRV Moves

Reverse Polarity ( RP )

Damage: 5

Frames: 5f after release

Type: Physical

Priority: Melee Mid

EX Force: 0

This is one of Exdeath's Staple Moves. He uses this to get around EVERYWHERE.

Without it, he'd be a rock ( or a tree ) stuck on the ground, thus becoming one of, if not his only, method of movement. This can be used to stagger your opponent and get in a quick attack if you know the hit box. It Wall Rushes as well, making ceilings very useful. You can also Cancel into Exdeath's Block Moves after teleporting as its Cooldown was lowered in 012, thus allowing the Combo of RP > Delta Attack.

An important thing to note is to make sure to teleport when a rushdown character starts a BRV near/at you, or you will receive a hit. RP isn’t entirely safe, it is still vulnerable to some BRVs that have an ability to TRACK his teleportation ( Heavenly Strike being one ).

Black Hole ( BH )

Damage: 1x18,18(36)

Start-up: 73F/85F

Type: Magic

Priority: Unblockable

EX Force: 114

This is one of Exdeath's moves that are used in certain MUs or by some Ex players like Meri.

This move can't be canceled out by anything, and creates a black hole (literally) that will suck in the opponent as it possesses the best Absorb in the game. This move is very useful at ceilings due to the fact that it can combo into Grand Cross and generate tons of EX Force ( make sure your opponent does not recieve it ). This move is also useful for dragging out characters who like to camp in their own magic (I'm talking to you Empy players).

It is however, VERY assist punishable and can be compared to Kefka’s Waggle Wobbly Firaga in terms of both usage and danger, so use sparingly and with caution.

On a side note,
Kain can Jump THROUGH Black Hole unaffected , but can still take damage from it.

Vacuum Wave ( VW )

Damage: 20

Start-up: 69F

Type: Magical

Priority: Ranged Low

EX Force: 0

This move doesn’t have much usage aside from a few MUs where he can Reflect it off something like Flare ( as an example ) and score a Block on its way back.

It’s fancy ( and funny to troll with ), but not suggested.

Counter Vacuum Wave ( C-VW )

Damage: 20,20/(40)

Start-up: 5F

Type: Magical

Priority: Ranged Mid

EX Force: 60

Activation: vO

This move, aside from the normal version, is more efficient.

It can be activated only after a successful Block Move, however.

This Move can be used twice when O is pressed more than once(doubled in EX Mode).

This move boasts the longest Range on any of his Counters and you can also delay the input to Dodge Punish with the second burst if the enemy dodges without Precision Evasion.

Its best usage however, is when your opponent knows how to Bait Counters and Assist Punish. With Auto Assist Lockon Equipped, it can be used much like Kefka’s Extra Crispy Firaga, as it will turn Exdeath in the direction of the incoming Assist Punish and Lock them. A way to mix this up a bit is to be obscure about your Delays and even only using one C-VW at times.

---------- Post added at 10:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 PM ----------

Hurricane ( H )

Damage: 2 x6,20(32)

Start-up: 43F

Type: Magical

Priority: Melee Low

EX Force: 60

This is one of Exdeath's moves that isn't used on him that much.

It has a high vertical range, allowing it to reach characters above you.

Hurricane isn't very useful due to the fact it can be blocked easily outside of AST combos. This move isn't recommended for Exdeath aside from only one MU against the Emperor when he has 2 Bars of Assist and has a Dreary Cell placed inside Flare while he’s using Starfall inside it.

Counter Hurricane ( C-H )

Damage: 11,2,3x11,22(55)

Start-up: 13F

Type: Magical

Priority: Melee Mid

EX Force: 60

Activation: O

This move can only be used after a successful Block Move. When you're near an opponent, this can be used to generate EX Force or cause a significant amount of damage to your opponent.

The best time to use this particular Counter is when your opponent is using a close range Magic with low Cooldown ( Lightning’s Thunder ).

Sword Dance ( SD )

Damage: 30(30)

Start-up: 65F

Type: Physical

Priority: Melee Mid

EX Force: 0

This move is useful for dodge punishing, but note that it also can be punished by fast Assists like Kuja and Tidus. It also Wall Rushes.

Counter Sword Dance ( C-SD )

Damage: 25 x2/(50)

Start-up: 11F

Type: Physical

Priority: Melee Mid

EX Force: 30

Activation: ^O

This can only be used AFTER a successful Block Move. This attack can be used to Wall Rush, and as a nice addition you can hit O twice to do twice as much damage instead of the slow version (doubled in EX Mode). This is also his most damaging Counter.

Shell Guard*

Block: 1-37F

End Frames: 100F

DC Frames: 50F

Priority: Block Ranged High

This move is useful for blocking magic or ranged attacks.

However, note that this will keep you immobile, as with all of Exdeath's blocks. This can help you by allowing you to cover your dodges. It can only block Ranged Low-Mid attacks successfully. Reflects Ranged Low attacks back at opponent.

Protect Guard*

Block: 1-45F

End Frames: 68F

DC Frames: 56F

Priority: Block Melee High

This Guard is the same as Shell Guard, except for the change to Guarding Physical.

This is useful for blocking most Physical Attacks. You can also cover your dodges with it.

It can only Block Melee Low-Mid attacks Successfully.

Turn Guard*

Block: 1-N

End Frames: Varies

DC Frames: Varies

Priority: Block Mid

This Guard is a staple for people who are beginning to play Exdeath, as this Guard even allows you to track your opponent and prevent them from getting behind you as you block(as with the Protect and Shell Guards). Note that you will stagger against Mid Attacks and get Guard Broken against any Priority High Attacks. On a side note, DO NOT HOLD IT FOR TOO LONG. If you do, Exdeath will take longer to take down the block and your opponent will have time to strike before you can DC out. Also, attacks like Lightning's Thunder can get BEHIND Turn Guard, so be wary.

Omni Block*

Block: 9F after button release

End Frames: 80F

DC Frames: 40F

Priority: Block Highest

This is Exdeath's Strongest Defense. It will block almost ANY attack thrown at him.

This block also guards 360 Degrees, meaning any attack from any angle that isn’t Unblockable Priority will be blocked if timed correctly and also projects a slightly larger area of Block Frames around him.

The downside is this block leaves after 9F, meaning you need to time it correctly to block.
