I'd much rather do Kai the hard way and connect rather than connect with incredible lag.

You'll lag more than usual in a public network, not only because it's public, merely because you won't be able to get into its router's configuration which prevents you to portforward and makes Kai suck hard.

I haven't much money saved, but is it possible to use Verizon, a cell phone provider which also provides internet connection, to connect to Kai?

Yes, the provider doesn't matter at all.

Basically, Kai works no matter how you get your Internet: home network, public network, 3G... It's just that Kai always stinks hard if you aren't portforwarded. And you can't portforward with a router you can't access the configuration (referring to the public network).

Ah, go ahead. I will never watch it.....
