I mean, I know with Squall, it's almost a must, but for other characters like Tidus, do I really need to equip it? I've seen like, every player on youtube equip it and I almost never get situations where Sneak Attack activates.

Sneak Attack on Tidus... It's definitely a nice little ability to have, no matter the character. Human players are very unpredictable, so being prepared for any situation is something to think about.

Sneak Attack is a must for pretty much all characters, espcially Melee.

Tidus activates sneak attack on the second hit of HopStep, which is why Tidus is considered REALLY good. (It's infact the SneakAttack that HURTS.)

HOWEVER there are people out there who use Disable Sneak Attack. If you know you're going againest people with Disable Sneak Attack, it's not worth equipping. But it's pretty much wanted by almost all characters anyways. (I can only think of Two characters that don't need Sneak Attack. And that's Emperor and ExDeath.)

Firion's reel axe turns the opponent around so Rope Knife does a lot more with sneak
