I'm starting to lose faith in this move. I rarely ever manage to get a hit with hit. It seems too slow, rises just slow enough to give your opponent and heads up, and (maybe I'm imagining this) if you just tap the square button the initial release leaves you at a greater height than you were at before the move.
Maybe it's time I switch it for Scintilla.
It's more reliable and safe than Octo.

Yes, just don't do it point blank. It's much more useful as a punish for attacks like Weapons Master, or as a sneak attack from above.

Only times I get with it is when I use the rise as a dodge. Doesn't seem that versatile in practice, though.
Useful for safely going to EX cores if you are above it.
It's fairly unreliable in terms of hitting aerial opponents, usually a pleasant surprise if I ever manage to hit someone airborne. Great chance to hit someone if they're on the ground though, one of the best moves to apply against Firion or Golbeza.
Mainly though I just use it for a positioning tool though. It's the fastest way down, and you're going sword point first. Also, compared to replacement options I prefer it(I feel as though Octaslash is fairly redundant to Heaven's Light or Scintilla usage.)
Why Scintilla when you can block and use Octaslash?
On that same note, why block and use Octaslash when you can use Scintilla?
Seriously, I would choose between these two for favouritism, not sacrificing Hell's Gate or Heaven's Light.
