You explained the difference between running fancy and running slightly fancier. Unless you want to be pretentious about it, that's no difference at all. You want to know what would be really different? Walking normally.

Neo, they've explained the difference. Just because it doesn't mean anything to you, it does to them. At this point, if the topic doesn't interest you, it's probably time to go somewhere else for discussion.

It's like if I told you lettuce and cabbage were the same thing. You would likely call me an uneducated moron or something of the sort. People can see how I would come to the conclusion that they are the same, but to anyone who knows about them, there are OBVIOUS differences. Ryu and Ken in Street Fighter? Some would say "same damn character" or "clone" - but to anyone who cares, there is a world of difference between them. This is the same thing.

Find me in the IRC and challenge me! I'd love to play against you!

Is it possible to find a more efficient way of doing so? Maybe there's a tree right next to the wall that you could Tic-Tac off of.

You'll probably want to "View Image in New Tab"

Remember though, if you're gonna do more, don't get ahead of yourself. Stay on ground levels, too. Despite watching people like David Belle or Sebastian Foucan jump around on rooftops, they actually say it's best to stay at the ground level, or close to it, at almost all times >.<
Thanks for that. I only ran on the roof real quick because my Chimney is like in the middle of the house and I can vault over it ^^
So I'm guessing, since you're an avid PKer yourself, you have a routine run. What do you do for it? Obviously in places like Green Bay, I can imagine it being limited.

@Neo Bahamut - Efficiency. If you were running away from an axe-wielding murderer, what would you rather do, use Parkour to overcome obstacles in your path to keep your speed up, and therefore make a larger gap in distance between you two, or use Freerunning, taking the time for superfluous tricks like flips and vert runs, which actually slow down your speed, therefore putting you closer to a very axe-y death. There's your difference; efficiency, or axe-y death.

See how that opinion holds up when you're in "Jeb's" basement as he cleans the blood off the floor, after putting your body parts into individually wrapped glad-lock bags (sealed for freshness!).

Veysey gave you two different examples, but here's one more: Baseball and Softball. Seems all the same, except for the size of the ball...and how you throw it...

Now, kindly leave the thread to those interested in this subject, and go back to arguing in the Square threads.

    -------------------------------------------------

Now, that's not to say that I don't like Freerunning. Who doesn't love doin' some sweet flips? My best buddy is actually branching into doing flips, just for the funsies, and to challenge himself.

@Zero_Ruzai - Stay off the roof you hooligan! *shakes old man fist*

I guess I'd say I'm avid, because I really want to learn this stuff, but I'm not an expert at all. It's all about building confidence, too, and there's still things I'm not ready to do yet. Kongs are sorta my next move to master.

Well, it's not entirely routine, but, I suppose since we always sorta go through the same place, it qualifies as a line, as iffy it is. Start in the Library parking lot, jump over some picnic tables, into the Bank drive-thru, over the little building (only about ten feet high), climb up to the second floor of the parking garage, run through the structure, drop down onto the sidewalk, onto the steps of the...nicebuildingIforgetexactlywhatit'sfor...jump off the partition, and end up at the boardwalk, where we then...sorta just shoot the shit, or go down to the wall of this condo and start practicing vert runs

It's rather limited because 1) American architecture stinks for this sorta stuff, and 2) it's fucking Green Bay, Wisconsin T_T There aren't a lot of obstacles, because it's all very...flat, I guess

Although my buddy's fiance said that her college campus might be good, too, so we'll have to check that out. My only hope is that Vancouver has more good obstacles, which it probably does.

I used to be more into it, but I quit for the most part. Whenever I'm walking though and I see a little trail that I could do, I'll usually do it. My vaults have gotten sloppier and I lost a lot of tone so I can't do a lot of the stuff I could before (not that I was exceptionally good in the first place) but I still enjoy it from time to time and I do love watching it.

    EDIT-
    @Belts
A college campus is usually a great place, just make sure you get a feel for the place first. I remember when I lived up in Utah, the UofU was a great place to jump around for an hour or two.

I find I confuse "building confidence" with "no fear."
I also found that I suck at vaults, especially considering that the only place that has a good spot to vault is on my roof and on my gravel driveway, there's not a lot of room for error. Thus, I'm usually cautious and if I do get it down, it's crap. The picnic table idea is actually pretty good, I think I could probably find someplace to do that. Like, you vault over it without touching the seats even? (By the way, at 5' 7", I'm not considered especially tall, so some of the crap's hard when it comes to overcoming objects lol).
I went up to Texas A&M University not too long ago and messed around the athletic rooms they had. I didn't know what Parkour was at the time, but they had a "green room" where they had obstacles set up to overcome, like box-steps, ladders that were slightly risen, and some other miscellaneous objects that were good for jumping across. I went there with a couple friends and it was actually good. Green Bay may have something like that, but I don't know since I'm not there. Anyway, just sayin' if A&M had it, it may be universal among colleges.

That's possible. My buddy was looking into one of the gyms around here, although during the open gym time there's a lot of preteen girls around, and...well...a couple of collegiate duders hanging out at the gym, for no matter what reason, seems creepy >.<

But yeah, gyms are good, especially since everything there is padded, so if you eat it, it's not gonna hurt as much.

    Default Places in Green Bay

Not sure if you are still looking for places in Green Bay for places to train in but NWTC has some good and interesting spots, pamprin park, Preble park, the boardwalk has some good spots, ummm those are the main places me and my group have trained here in Green Bay. I have been training as much as I can in the summer (i can't in winter due to poor circulation) but i'm still not the greatest lol. My honest opinion you can turn anything around you into a training ground, you just have you use your imagination.
