First off, if you'd like the demo, you can go here and download it as a zip file, and then you can place it right into the Games folder on your memory stick. Doesn't require a cracked system or anything, so as long as you have over 300mb of free space, you can play it.
This guide is compiled from info from GameFAQs, SiliconEra, and through playing
The game is in Japanese, so you'll have to at least bear with it. As a Japanese game, O is confirm, and X is cancel!
__Getting Started...___
After watching the lengthy opening, you'll initially take control of Rem as she enters the academy. Make your way up the stairs and talk to the moogle to enter the Salon. The option with two characters is "Yes," and the option with three characters is "No."
Inside the Salon, you'll see another moogle hanging out near some couches, but to your left you see a crystal post - this is the save point, and it's where you'll take care of all your characters. This is also where you'll choose the character you want to play as.
Here's the translation of the Save Point
Change Character - Straight forward, just select which of the characters you want to play as (see below)
Edit Reserve Party - Not much can be done about this in the demo
Equipment - This can be messed with later, and is pretty straightforward
Character Growth - Use AP earned from Level Ups to purchase new abilities and upgrades
Altocrystarium - Used for upgrading your magic. Can't be used in the demo
Save - Save your game
Load - Load savedata
__Characters...______
Rem - Dual Daggers
Nine - Spear
Queen - Rapier
Ace - Cards
Sice - Scythe
King - Pistols
Machina - Dual Swords
__Magic...__________
After you've chosen the character you'd like to control, you can take a moment to check out the Equipment menu. After selecting it, select your character, and move down to the second "Command" option. Hit O and then select the second option, this will allow you to equip the character with a different spell in their Command 2 slot. In Type-0, magic not only comes in different elements, but also different casting types, denoted by the initials at the end, which change the way the spell is used.
Thunder SHG [Shotgun] - Electricity shoots out in an array in front of you
Blizzard ROK [Rocket] - Fires a large chunk of ice, after a while, it drops down and hits the ground
Thunder MIS [Missile] - Charges up a ball of electricity and then lets it fly
Fire MIS2 [Missile 2] - Shoots a fast-flying ball of fire
Blizzard BOM [Bomb] - Giant explosion of ice erupts from the ground
The same can be done with the Defense Magic slot...
Cure - Recovers HP
Wall - Creates a wall that you can move and fire magic through, but your from enemy attacks (unless they walk through it)
Defend - Block attacks to reduce damage (consumes energy from the orange Ability gauge when active)
Magic still consumes MP, but it's cast a bit differently. Instead of just pressing the button to fire off the spell, you have to hold the button until it's charged. When you begin charging, you'll notice a small blue line run over the command you're using; once it's all the way to the right, you're good to go. Take note that Queen's Cure spell can be held down to do Cure, but can also be held down longer to use an upgraded version.
__Start Menu..._______
(Taken from SiliconEra) Pressing the Start Button opens up a menu. You can change tabs with the L and R buttons...
Information Item Members System Control Explanation
The Information screen differs in and out of battle. The different options under that submenu are:
(out of battle)
Pause Game
Quest (only out of battle)
Practice (only out of battle, not available during demo)
Return to Title Screen
(in battle)
Pause Game
Quit Mission
Return to Title
A press of the R button brings you to the Item screen. This has its own set of sub-categories:
Items Weapons Accessories Phantoma Chocobo
Most of those don’t lead anywhere, seeing as you can’t get a chocobo or new weapons. If you select the Item category, you get this handy menu:
Use
Organize
If you want to use an item, you have to go through this menu without pausing the battle and without the option to dodge. Equipping an item allows you to assign it to the Select button, which you can use immediately during battle without going through this whole process. You can only assign single items though.
Another R button press brings you to party members, but there’s no real reason to come to this screen. You can reorganize the order your party members or reserve party are listed in, but you can’t actually change your party with this menu. Pressing the Triangle button toggles between screens for each character’s equipment and abilities.
The System submenu has three options:
Online
Key Configuration
Configuration
The first leads to the following options regarding a battle feature that I’ll explain later. For now, feel free to ignore it and move on:
The information below these options displays your default online information for the demo. You can ignore it. The second sub-menu, Key Configuration, leads to button changes:
Finally, the third submenu, Configuration, leads to sound controls and other options:
Phew. The last submenu, Control Explanations, is just that. This screen changes depending on if you’re in battle or not. This is a good time to mention summons Also, as a last-resort attack — or just when you want a big powerhouse on the field – you can summon a monster by holding Triangle and Circle simultaneously. During the practice battle, only ice-skating Shiva is available, but you can select to use Golem during the missions. The summons also have four attacks available, but they’re only present for a set period of time (I believe it’s 30 seconds) and summoning them causes your current character’s HP to fall to 0. I’m not a big fan of the summons, but I’ve also heard that they’re one of the only way (or maybe just the easiest) to take on the harder demo missions.
Change the control scheme if you want (I chose Type C, changed it so R toggles Lock-On, and set the Subcommands to use the face buttons). I'll explain the control scheme as if you kept it to defaults, though. Once you're all set, go talk to the moogle near the couches, and select the very first option.
Practice Battle
Mission One
Nothing
Check out the Practice Battle, and it'll take you to a forest to fight some random monsters. You'll actually gain EXP here, so play around with each of the characters, maybe leveling them up a bit before taking on the first mission. Here's how to play...
__Controls...___________
Triangle - Attack = repeatedly tap or hold the button to perform a combo
Circle - Command 1 = performs the character's special move (consumes energy from the orange Ability gauge)
Square - Command 2 = cast a spell (see above for spell details)
X - Defense = Tap or hold while moving to dodge, or hold when stationary to use your Defensive Magic
Analog Stick - Move Character
D-Pad - Adjust camera / Change target when Camera Lock is on / Use Subcommand
R Button - Camera Lock
L Button - Subcommands (together with a D-Pad button)
L+R - Sheath your weapon(s) (HP regenerates faster when barehanded)
Triangle+Circle = Call Summon - Be careful! This KO's your controlled character!
...some characters also have other attacks that can be done if you tilt the analog stick up or down when you attack. Experiment to see who can do what, and when it's best to use those attacks.
__Subcommands...______
Holding the L Button and pressing one of the D-Pad buttons will execute a subcommand...
L+Up = Swap a Reserve member in the place of a KO'd party member
L+Left/Right = Switch between the three characters in your party
L+Down = Initiate an SO (see below)
__Critical Hits..._________
When you're locked onto an enemy, sometimes you'll see the cursor change color for a brief moment. Land an attack on the enemy during that moment to deal a critical blow, dishing out a huge amount of damage. You'll know if you got it because the screen will flash. Weaker monsters are pretty much killed in one hit by these, while bigger monsters can be taken down easier.
__Phantoma...__________
As you defeat enemies, you can stand near their corpse and hold the R button, which causes the body to lift up a little, and the Lock-On cursor to rotate. When it locks into place, tap Triangle, Square, or Circle to absorb Phantoma, and gain back some MP. It also gives you special color-coded items that can be used for upgrading magic, but it's unavailable in the demo.
---------------------------------------------------------
If you've got something to add, just lemme know and I'll pop it on here.

__Secret Operations (SO)...________
SO is a special, secondary mission that can be accepted during your current mission with L+Down when it's announced over the radio, and they depend solely on what's going on in that level. Usually it wants you to complete a task within an allotted time. Here's what we know so far (taken from GameFAQs)...
Mission 1
-First map:
1. Available once the 2 cars appears.
Kill 2 ennemies with a Kill-Sight (the red circle thing), easy to do, and there is 3 ennemies (+2 other popping up later, I guess they can be used too if the first 3 soldiers are killed to fast, but I haven't tried it)
-Second Map:
None (but like the previous map, there is a general enemy that if killed will stop the fight, and you can take objects from the soldier left who abandonned the fight...like keys for opening the cars)
-Third Map:
1 Available once the ennemy mecha flees and start firing missiles
Do not get hit by any attack during 1 minute (just notice that, like all secret mission, you can't change maps, or it'll stop the mission, so no crossing the door). Easy since you have a haste boost given to you
-Fourth Map:
None (Just missiles to evade anyway)
-Fifth Map:
1. Available once the monkey appears (snowsomething...forgot his name)
Do 3 Break Sight (the yellow circle thing). Easy as well, the ennemy do a simple pattern: attack (x2 or x3 usually), then a body-slam and falls (here is the Break Sight)
2. Available once the previous mission is cleared
Land 10 hits. Easy as well, though, if you're over-leveled, the ennemy would be killed since long...
3. Available once the 2nd S.O. is cleared
Kill the snowblahblah. Considering you should have done 3 Break Sight and at least 10 hits after that, the ennemy should have next to no life left (even if you have "only" 30 seconds to do it)
4 Once the monkey is killed
Kill 2 ennemies
Seriously no clue about this one as no other ennemy pops up after killing the monkey and moving to the next room will cancel the mission. If someone has done it...
-Sixth Map:
1. Upon entering the map
Find all the objects in the map. Easy, you have lots of time and the ennemies are weak. One object is in the entrance where you fight the first 3 arhimans (a little sparkling thing on the ground, near the boxs, lock and O should do it). The second is after you beat the 3 next ennemies, climb down the stairs and it'll be hidden behind the boxs left there. Well, within 4 minutes, it would be hard to miss it (and you can always restart the mission by going to the previous map and returning. The S.O. should be re-available I think)
-Boss Map:
1. Once the fight starts
Do 3 Break Sight on the Behemoth. Not hard once you know his attacks. The Break Sight will appear either, right before he's charging (but it's quite fast). Or else, it'll appear a bit after the Behemoth try to land 2 hits, or the attack when he's spinning on himself (really easy once you get the timing). For the attack where he's just waving his tail, I haven't tried it so I don't know
2 Once the previous mission is cleared
Kill the Behemoth. Well, considering you have done the previous one, there is not lots of life left so easy...
Mission 2
Map 1:
Nothing to do, just watch the Dragon destroy everything~
Map 2:
1. Upon Entering
Do Not kill an ennemy for a minute (and invisible for 15 seconds). Easy, no need to move from the beginning and no fights to do as long as the first bomb don't see you...
And here starts the random, I have done it a number of times and the mission order seems to change quite a lot...so I can't give a "for sure" way after this point.
2. After clearing the previous mission (I only had it once, not really sure how)
Do not lose anyone (this one last 3:00 minutes and you have regen as a boost). Well, not having any death isn't that hard on that part of the map except if you have computer bots being stupid...
3. Clearing "a" previous mission
Kill 2 ennemies....no explanation needed
4. Clear "a" previous...
Kill one dragon ennemy in one minute (to try to recognise it if you have it, the name of the dragon is written on the mission..when you lock the dragon if you recognise more or less the name, that should be the mission, it's named yokuryuu for those reading katakana)
5. If you did the dragon one without killing the humanoid ennemy on the way?
Kill the human ennemy (I guessed the condition but I'm not sure 100%)
6. Clearing a mission
In 1 minute, land 10 hits (you will have a no MP used buff if I'm not wrong...spell like Thunder SHG works wonder for this kind of mission, at least 5 hits or more each time used when shooting at point-blank). I once had this mission twice during the same run
7. Clearing the previous
Kill one ennemy with magic (seems to work only if you use magic all the time, if you land hits with your weapon in the middle I don't know if it's okay...though, once again not enough test to be sure at 100% but the random annoys me)
8. Still clearing
Kill 2 ennemies with magic (same as previously...at least be sure to land the killing blow with magic, but as I'm not sure, if you have MP, do the whole fight with magic...thanks Rem)
9. Clearing...
No Damage for 30 seconds
9. Clearing...
Do not get hit for a minute (yeah, I had both the 30 seconds and the 1 minute...)
I haven't gotten more S.O. in this map, but there may (and probably have) more. In 3 runs, I've got those, but who knows after a while how it'll turn. I've given little hints for recognising it...but without japanese reading skills at all, it'll be tricky (even for me sometimes, as I'm not perfectly bilingual)...sorry I can't be of more help there
Third Map:
1. After killing the first 2 dragons
Kill 10 zombies while having no death (not sure about the death part, but it seems to be the case). Well the infamous S.O. for obtaining Rem's costume. Given that you have 4 minutes, it's pretty doable, even if the zombies tend to avoid attacks well sometime.
2. Once previous mission is cleared:
Kill 2 ennemies with magic. If the previous is done correctly, there should be 2 zombies left, and potentially a dragon (though I always killed the dragon before, next time I'll wait to see if there is another mission after this one with the remaining ennemy)
