That would be Triple Triad Advance. The system was a little slow but it rewarded you for playing games if that was your thing. Of course, points were the only currency so it would work differently here.

Just had my first match with Erika.
But yeah, this is so damn broken. Top 3 rep of this forum are going to wipe out everyone. I mean, my match with Erika was a draw but meta-wise it was like 8-2 for me: he was better than me at the game but just because I had more rep (thus broken cards) than him, he could only pull a draw.
My random draw of cards are all extremely top heavy, so it's hard to set up any sort of strategy other than defend and hope the opponent can give you an opening (provided you play with rules). The Same/Plus/Combo rules even the playing field a little if people have stronger cards and you've got a weaker overall hand but have a strategy to go with it (with some luck on the side).

Wait, the cards you get are based on your Rep? Or do you just get more gil for having more Rep?

Narolf has a very good point. Due to my rep (and in turn, gil) I've already obtained Ifrit, Siren, Pupu, and Malboro. This isn't going to bode well for newer members. You either need to give out Gil way more often or create a point system that rewards you even if you lose.

That's why I suggested the point system on the first page. However it needs to be tweaked to fit our situation can be done, but I recommend doing it for people who actually want to play, or there'll be next to no reason to play the game on a daily basis.
