I'm pretty sure my month-and-a-half of Kendo and my mastery of Wii Sports Resort Swordplay will come in use to me when I play.
That said, how much damage does the sword beam do?

The Skyward Strike does as much damage as a normal move, the only difference is the range. You can aim it with any sword move you have; thrust, vertical and horizontal slashes. Then the horizontal and vertical spins. Also, you don't even have to aim the Wiimote at the screen, I just keep it down and still use it to aim; easier that way.
Spoiler:
Also, if you dash then swipe your Wiimote, Link will do the charging slash. (Like when you press Z + A in OoT)

Its here :O The official timeline from Nintendo itself! From the Hyrule Historia artbook!
Seems time splits at 3 points rather then the two everyone thought, didn't expect them to make a whole timeline out of the game over screen though!

Oh, good. This should clear things right up. So far I only know that SS is the earliest story, followed by OoT, followed by MM. Then the timeline splits there.
The timeline with the OoT ending leads to Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess. The Adult Link timeline (where he killed Ganon, then ceased to exist because he decided to live out his childhood) lead to the Wind Waker timeline and its sequels.

Started playing this game, it's pretty legit as far as I've played. One problem I encountered is that there's a point in the game that the storyline ceased to exist. Thankfully Nintendo released a channel to fix this problem so I'm back up and running. To give a comparison, this game is basically a longer version of Windwaker, using the sky instead of the sea. That being said, it's amazing in every aspect of gameplay, much faster paced, really good controls (minus the controls of the bird. They're... weird), diversity of weapons (some are bizarre, not gonna lie), and tons of gameplay. So far, other than the first problem I pointed out which was fixed, exploring is rather... unrewarding. There are plenty of areas to check out, but for the most part, they're rather "meh" on what you can expect from them. But that's typical of most Zelda games, being only rewarded with a Heart Piece or something. SS tends to give more rupees instead, which makes me go -_-
Customizing, repairs, travels, controls, beauty of the game, speed of the action, everything makes me like the game so far. If you have the money for it, don't hesitate to buy it if you're a zelda fan of any length. You won't regret it.

Just got it about 6 days ago. I have to say, it is amazing. I'm about to start the 4th dungeon. This game has some of the coolest items yet. So far I have a remote-controlled grabber claw that can fly, shovel gloves, and a perpetual wind blower. I love this game.
