I have to confess, I never was able to defeat Yiazmat. -____- Still, I am thinking of trying out a trick where I can use the reverse spell and maybe even the vanish spell so that I can start using them against bosses. I love to play and replay FFXII. Still, does anyone know how to actually use these two spells the right way? I am going to start using the Reverse spell against Yiazmat but I am not sure as to how to use it properly.
Reverse is pretty simple really, all your attacks will heal while recovery will damage you, of course this effect only lasts about 7 seconds and reapplying it can get tedious, so trying to use it on Yiazmat is not recommended since that spell when applied on an enemy, all attacks will heal it; so what I suggest is using Reverse and Decoy on someone, of course the downside to this is that you can't heal or attack with them or else it will heal Yiazmat. Also this tactic is required to beat Omega Mk. XII since it's only attack will OHKO anyone.
As for Vanish, well, it only works on enemies that rely on vision so it's only really useful agaisnt Birds, Insects, Giant, Material and Humanoid enemies and bosses usually ignore Vanish except for one, and that one would be Omega strangely enough, also casting it on enemies will make said enemy ignore the party, so it's really useful when trying to reach Zodiark.
??? -__- Cannot rely on casting Reverse on Yiazmat and then a cure spell on it then I guess... should I rely on reverse motes then? I think they can be cast on the whole party I think. Not sure. Have to replay the game again. I had already beat Omega Mk.XII but I did it without the Reverse and Vanish spell miraculously. I just have to defeat Yiazmat and I can get the third badge to obtain the WyrmBlade weapon. ??? And I never did think of Decoy before. I am just wondering because right now, I am at the point where Yiazmat just automatically makes all damage at 6999 so casting berserk on a character is useless except the fact that the person will attack even faster (Strangely on mine that is).
As for Yiazmat, you don't need Reverse, Decoy, or any such gimmick either. I'd recommend steamrolling most of his health with a Genji Glove/Berserk/Masamune setup because he's a big pushover with lots of health for most of the battle. He only gets hard at critical health, because of his ability to OHKO a character with a multihit combo due to not only his damage output but his chance of inflicting instant death. The lower his health gets, the more frantic the battle becomes, and the less buffs become worthwhile due to constant reviving so at that point it just becomes a case of hammering at him until he drops.
Yiazmat is just one big test of patience really, IMHO Omega is harder. If you can beat Omega, you can beat Yiazmat.
Oh right, one thing I didn't mention about Yiazmat, he's immune to Reverse, so that' pretty much out of the question, unless you really want to use it on yourself and set up Gambits for it so you don't accidentally heal him with an attacks or get yourself killed with recovery magic.
And what I meant on relying on Reverse is that trying to apply it on yourself might take several tries, so yeah.
BTW, do you by any chance have the Yagyu Darkblade and a Black Robe? If so just use it on him since he's weak to the Dark element, while the robe increases Dark damage. Also if you have the Windbreaker armor, use it just right after he's about use Cyclone to lessen the blow, but of course you have to have quick reflexes since you only really have 2 seconds before the attack.
A tip I can give is keep the Battle Speed, which is located in the options, at max since Yiazmat has no charge time, also on e he starts spamming Deathstrike you better haul ass to the exit and recuperate and save since during that time he doesn't have a chance to cast Regen on itself.
I'm sorry I can't give you anymore tactics agaisnt him since I only beat him once two years ago, so hope this sort of helps, you might also want to take a look at the FFwiki for more strategies agaisnt him. Here's the link. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Y...Fantasy_XII%29

I actually found a better way. Using Reverse and Decoy. I have Vaan, Penelo and Ashe against him. I got him down by two dots; So hard to actually have Reverse and Decoy up to par; Made sure that I have Arise in there; Ashe has no bubble belts; DX I NEED MEGA-ETHERS OR BETTER POTIONS! I made sure to give Vaan the Shell Shield. Everyone else has the Renewing Moron that has the Regen ability. Keeps me from worrying about healing that much. I have Ashe cast Darkga on Yiazmat.
@Myth DX I do not have a Yagyu Darkblade. Have been trying to find it but to no avail. I'll look it up to see how I can get it. As for the Black Robe, I think that I do have it but I prefer to have something else in place of it.
@X-Zone DX I don't have a Genji Glove...that and he tend to inflict stop or petrify on me.
