Nice, Nice. Close match, you really stuck it to him. One thing I see that I need to start doing is more charges. I'm somewhat of a fast Jecht, rushing in to hit you at the smallest opening with my pretty quick attack lol. Takes advantage of lag really well but I hardly ever wait out a dodge then release...need to work on that lol.

You do realize that if Jecht times his Stream right, Heavens Light will never hit? If Jecht uses it right, he can avoid getting HP'd with Stream without charging at all (he'll stagger, though while Sephiroth continues with the attack - but it won't hit him). Full charge staggers both if I recall correctly. To be honest, Sephiroth needs neither of those attacks. He just needs his brv game. SF for pressure and his melees to punish any attempts at attacking him. I kid you not, Jecht shouldn't be able to touch Sephiroth if Seph is strictly reacting to what Jecht does in the air (outside of enclosed spaces/corners).

Now; Hyne ran an event last weekend and here are some replays. At first I wasn't going to because some of the matches were requested not to be put up but I think there is some important footage as well as some lessons to be learned. I forgot my first two losses (against Nero) as I was super tired during the event but remembered to grab everything else. If Nero wants to post those (humiliatingly bad) matches; I'd actually appreciate it since I'd like to have the whole set/all my matches from Saturday.

Your experimental build really hurt your assist game lol. One of my biggest gripes in the scene is that players aren't managing assists well...not even close.
First off, Jecht's HP are not safe with the possible exception of Ground Beam, and that's entirely dependent on the opponent's assist choice. If you're using them while the opponent has meter, it better hit or you're open to EASY assist punishment. If you're looking for meter gain yourself, you've got several better options. Second, having assist on hand when playing as or against Jecht controls the pace of the match. Either player can call an assist when a clash is coming for a free combo. Keeping an assist also shuts down some of the opponent's options, thereby strengthening your defensive game. Third, if you can't make the punish in time, have your assist do it.
Now that I've covered the general assist stuff I'll get into the match specifics. For Tifa's Rolling Blaze feint, you want to react when you see her release it. Your spacing vs. Terra was lacking. I know it's an easy matchup, but this is pretty standard stuff when fighting any mage so I'll just say it. You want to stay at a comfortable distance where you're not running past her or into attacks and you can punish on reaction. Basically, wait for her to make the first move.
I get the feeling that you're more comfortable with defensive play, but you're missing out on a lot of opportunities. Stream can still punish without fully charging. It's easy to get manhandled by someone who's capable of reacting to it, and you can condition them with varying charges. This becomes mandatory when both players have more experience. How you returned dodge into the opponent's face after he whiffed and charged Stream was beautiful. It's the perfect positioning for mixup options and maximizes any charge's range. Another thing, don't be afraid to attack twice out of its cooldown or double block if you catch onto a opponent's habits. Be aware of your options and the patterns of your opponent so you can take advantage of them. A purely offensive or defensive Jecht isn't utilizing all the tools at his disposal and that makes him about as threatening as a guppy.

Can someone tell me how to post videos? I've tried a few times, but it just makes a link to the video instead of the dedicated player. Isnt it with the embed code? Its been a while but I think thats what I used but it didnt work lol

I recently posted quite a few videos using Veysey's old EX/Machine build ( I'm really quite fond of it ) to the 012 replays section. It worked against some very good players as well and I figured I'd add some good examples of EX build footage to the
"Jecht Video Thread".
