Thanks for the tip, I didn't know about that. I searched for a guide to these abilities and which ones should be equipped for player vs. player matches, but I didn't find anything at all. I'll be sure to check out that thread.

Yeah, most of the less specific things like that can be found in Cloud's section, although sometimes it requires wading through crap to find.
