I'm really glad to hear that. A lot of friends of mine always feel like their writing is terrible, when I know for a fact it isn't. It's good to see you've got self-confidence

You sound like you could be really good at writing an Advice Column. Have you done that before?

    @Nero + animefreak: <3 Thanks guys.

Upon looking for other tidbits to share, I found this three-page short story I wrote recently. Guess I can just throw this here. If you decide to read all of it, hope you enjoy.

    Short Stories I
    Spoiler:

    Reversal ~ Satire (March 1, 2012)
A satire assignment for my English class. We had to write about a time traveler who ends up in 2012 from the year 2500 and criticizes the way people live today. I took a different spin on it; everyone was writing about a traveler who comes from an advanced, technological future. I decided to do the opposite; my time traveler comes from a post-apocalyptic world which has been nearly destroyed.
    Spoiler:

I don't have the slightest clue as to how I got there. Stepping out from the darkened alleyway, the sun's intense light blinded me momentarily as I caught my breath. It was pretty difficult to describe what was before my eyes; behemoths of steel and iron, radiantly laminated signs, and most unbelievable of all—people. Hundreds—maybe even thousands—of people walking around. In my confused daze, I briefly asked a woman where I was and what the current date was. She looked at me for a second as if I was insane—which, by that point, I had felt as if I was. Without further delay, she answered me promptly.

"March of 2012. You're in New York. Times Square, to be exact."

I couldn't respond in any way, shape, or form. The shock of the realization that was brought upon by her words made all of my basic thought process crash to a grinding halt. With another strange look towards me, the woman briskly walked away, leaving me alone to deal with the fact that I had somehow ended up 488 years in the past. With no memories of the previous day and a distinct lack of understanding as to how I leapt through the space-time continuum, I was now in a day and age nearly five centuries before my own.

With more thoughts racing in my head than I could count, I decided to recollect myself with a walk through the area. The city was immense and more structured than I could have ever imagined. The textbooks back in my time had spoken of this massive city, detailing it as a "city within a city." After seeing it for myself, I would have to agree.

Walking through these streets instilled with me a trembling sense of fear—it was scary to think that the roads I was walking down with all of these people by me would become an empty, annihilated wasteland by 2391 due to nuclear fallout. In about four hundred years, this grand city will be no more; the three billion citizens within its walls—a milestone in its population reached only years before in 2368—will be completely erased. Only hundreds of miles of ruined buildings and desert-like expanses will remain. Not just New York, either—the entire New England area of the United States is completely destroyed by 2453.

What surprised me even more was the amount of people that ventured on these very streets. To see so many people walking without a care in the world was actually a bit terrifying considering the fact that the population of the entire planet in 2500 stands at a total of only 6,400. Such a number in this time and age would be a small town or established. Yet, five hundred years from now, it's going to be the entire planet. Just thinking about that made my head hurt a bit.

Stopping by at a luscious garden with well-kept trees, I realized I was in Central Park—one of the world's most beautifully kept landscapes. To see it in person before its destruction by rebels in the Civil War of 2035 was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for someone like me. No matter where I went in this city, I couldn't escape feelings of uneasiness. Knowing the future made walking through the past all the more surreal. The Empire State building—destroyed by riot bombings in 2181. The Brooklyn Bridge—catastrophic downfall in 2236. The Statue of Liberty—set aflame and collapsed in 2090. All of these inevitable and unimaginable tragedies which would slowly change the course of mankind and the planet itself—I was the only one that knew about them. This wasn't just about New York, either. The entire world would slowly start to shift.

The irony of it all? The textbooks said it all started in 2012—this year. The United States Presidential Election of 2012 would become known as the "single worst mistake of all human history." I wanted to warn someone, but I knew that that wasn't an option. Who knows what would happen if I started tinkering with the past? All I know for sure is that the winner of the election made a critical decision in 2013 that changed the future and the fate of everything forever—the decision to raise research and budgets in nuclear energy by a margin of over 700%. This was the NSP, otherwise known as the Nuclear Safeguard Protocol. The NSP was the beginning of the end.

The textbooks also mentioned that the people of this time period held a silly belief; an idea that the "end of the world" was going to happen on December 21, 2012. People honestly thought that the entire planet would fall into havoc and cease to exist in nine months. Aliens, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions—this is what they thought. In a depressing kind of way, it's just a little bit funny because they were right. 2012 actually did mark the end of the world. It wasn't by aliens or volcanoes, though. It was the Presidential Election. To think that all of these people here have the right idea but the wrong reasoning. The world does end in 2012—just not in a day. It's a domino effect. It starts in 2012 and slithers down the chain to the realm of suffering that I live in—2500.

I knew I had no place in this timeline, though. If I told people about the things that I knew, not only would I be laughed at publically and labeled a lunatic, but the government might detain me as a conspirator against them. I could do nothing but search for a way back and let the people of this day and age deal with the fact that the entire planet was going to make a 180 degree reversal in only nine months. There was nothing I could do about it. I did feel rather guilty. What if my appearance in this earlier timeline was a sign from the heavens—what if it was my destiny to fix the world? Sadly, that's all that it's going to remain as—"what if."

The fate of human society is set in stone—it cannot be changed. There's nothing I nor anyone else can do about it. The people of this time will continue to live life as if nothing is going to happen. I suppose that that's the way things should be. Ignorance may be bliss, but I guess life in itself is bliss as well. These young adults and businessmen who walk the streets of their world with music players and cell phones in hand—this is all they know. This is all they'll ever know. They will never accept the truth in front of their eyes—the truth that the gears of the machine which will end everything are slowly starting to turn. They keep walking, texting their friends and calling their families as if nothing's wrong. The reality is, behind the scenes, everything is wrong.

The things that the Presidential Election of 2012 leads to are things that these people cannot even begin to fathom. Radiation beyond their wildest nightmares, entire cities leveled to the ground as if they were blocks of clay, wild beasts roaming the lands—it's Hell on earth. The fall of technology in 2481—the year I was born—only made things worse. After that, things became primal. We live in tribes and hunt to survive. If the people walking by me were to see me and my family in my natural habitat five hundred years from now, they would see us as cavemen. To be fair, though, the same applies from us to them. These ignorant fools know absolutely nothing and take every little thing in their lives for granted. The painful truth of it all is that they're the cavemen, not us. We may fit the physical description of cavemen, but my people are well-founded in schools of thought. These people near me fit the mental description of cavemen flawlessly—philosophically handicapped, unaware of life's trials, and unwilling to accept change.

Indeed, even if I could share my knowledge of the future without completely destroying the natural timeline of the universe, I wouldn't. There's no point. They won't act. Even when given the truth, these people believe the lies they're fed. At this point, hope simply doesn't exist. In nine months, the first domino falls.

No although it would of been nice. My poems seem more like acknowledging your feelings. I have a hard time giving advice on what others should do when it comes to serious decisions that doesn't involve the obvious like don't take your life :3

Nah, that's it. There was a limit of three pages, so I had to cap it off there. However, I had considered expanding upon it and making it an entirely complete work in which he meets a girl who believes him and tries to help him get back to his time. I have a lot of projects right now, but if I ever have time, I'll probably go through with that.

    Thanks for your words.

I'll let you know any updates, then.

aaaaaaaaaaaand upon finding more of my stuff lying around, more poetry go

    Poetry II
    Spoiler:

    Nexus ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem that describes what your personal definition of a "poem" encompasses.
    Spoiler:

A lone, undisturbed being of refined solitude
Reserved in nature with an illusion of peace
Yet those ideals and emotions within are clawing at the locks
To be forever kept inside, to never see the light of day
The key which brings about an end to their imprisonment is the poem

An unknown and mysterious portal to the true realm of soul
A shadowed path to the secret dimension of mind
A sacred departure through the hollowed caverns of spirit
The poem connects the individual to the universe
The poem connects the universe to the individual
The poem is the final nexus bringing one to their own existence

    Her ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem based off of a five-minute free-writing we did. For those that don't know, free-writing is when you just write what you're thinking about without lifting your pen. At the time, I was adulated with a girl, so I was writing about her. Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic. So, that's what the poem ended up being about.
    Spoiler:

Her presence tenses up my mind with darkened chains of uncertainty
Yet, simultaneously, an aura of calming peace radiates from her smile of warmth
Conflicting emotions arise within my subconscious, battling one another fervently
Revealing such feelings could potentially destroy what little we have
Thus, these thoughts remain undecided as I stand divided between confessions and hidden truths

The Infinite Ocean ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem about a body of water. The point was to give it some personification.
    Spoiler:

The infinite ocean cradles those who brave across it
Reciting stories of voyages past to courageous sailors who venture onwards
Brutal waves of anger surge as the ocean screeches with its might
Warning those who dare trespass needlessly to shift their routes

The infinite ocean stands as a sacred being within our world
As it is looked upon as a herald of boundless wisdom
For its arms stretch as wide as the entire realm around us
And its depth transcends deeper than any fathomable point in our minds

The infinite ocean whose unknown existence we cannot spiritually grasp
The mind of the ocean is unreachable from our breadth of comprehension
The spirit of the ocean is cryptic and obscure in nature
Yet for reasons beyond our understanding we thrive to become one with it

The infinite ocean caresses the lives of millions
Species spread amongst a spectrum of individuality
Catering to all of their needs simultaneously under one action
Bringing forth both life and death into our dimension

The infinite ocean is the extensive mystery which we cannot solve
The infinite ocean is the impossibility which we seek to prove correct
The infinite ocean is the collection of beliefs that exceed our thought processes
The infinite ocean stands before me as it invites me to explore its vast expanse

The Dancer ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem about a simile that our teacher handed out to us. The first line had to be that simile. So, the first line of the poem is the simile I ended up with, and I worked off of that. This poem was apparently published in a literary magazine I've never even heard of, which makes me a published author without even knowing about it. okay.jpg
    Spoiler:

She danced as if she were an international idol
Her movements performed with nothing short of unparalleled perfection
Her motions executed with the utmost of predetermined significance
With a slowed breath, her eyes opened and cascaded glances with my own
Our gazes interlocked as she smiled with an intense bliss
Her soul flew into the air above with harmonious grace as her feet moved in rhythm
Her body was no longer controlled by her own muscles but by the emotions surging within

Escaping the realms of reality, her being danced ever on
As I could feel my entire presence in this hall becoming captivated by her streaming mobility
The dancer before me had advanced through our dimension into her own state of mind
The music comes to a stop as does she and her mouth maneuvers ever so slightly towards me
Her whispers confirmed all that I needed to know

A bridge of light materializes between our hearts as she flutters on stage
And I can feel the world around us diminishing into nothing as her focus carries on
The realm around me is no more and the only thing within my sight is her
A finale of expected perfection—she slows her feet and opens her eyes with her sight locked on me
Her performance has been finalized and I can hear the crowd roaring with enticement wildly
But the only thing I see in this darkened world is her illustrious being
As she takes my hand with a confirmation of quintessence

Divine Sculpture ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem about our favorite metaphor. The first line had to be that simile. So, the first line of the poem is the metaphor I selected, and I worked off of that.
    Spoiler:

Life is the divine sculpture which our thoughts define
The world that stands before us is a selection of clay which we shape by our beliefs
We alone are the greatest sculptors of our time
The mastery of our art is unprecedented even to the skies above
Yet the significance of our skill is equally unimportant to anyone but us
For we are the only beings who can truly embrace our own individualism

No appreciation shall ever arise from any existences beyond our own
Nor could any understanding emerge from realms beyond our own
For we are the only beings who can acknowledge and comprehend ourselves
We are our own and we belong to no one else
In our fabric of reality no one exists besides us

We are all one being coming together like a congregation of advanced introspection
We are the sculpture we actualize
We are the world around us which we dwell within
We are the thoughts that embody the magnitude of our planet
We are the beliefs that encompass generations' worth of traditions and continuance
We are the divine sculpture which our thoughts define
    We are life

The Door ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem about a mysterious door that was locked away forever and what we found when we finally opened it. It had to use lots of imagery to stimulate the five senses.
    Spoiler:

    The door stands before me
    Stoic and unmoving in place
    Beckoning my advancement towards it
Calling my hands to grasp the cold, steel handle
Enticing my body to twist the metal with a motion of doubt and disbelief
Opening the door which I believed nothing of for so long
Proceeding into the halls of a place which I knew not

    Tattered, broken stone
Lining the hall around me like a straight edge path onwards
Burning crimson flares light up the area as I continue
Torches blazing eternally to provide a path that no one has walked before

A breath of fresh air flows through my nostrils
Damp grass and amorously scented flowers bestow peace upon me
My hand grazes the ancient stone walls as I press forward
My mind questions the integrity of this hall as my fingers scrape the disintegrated stones
Yet my sight relishes me with a brilliant achromatic shine at the end of the road
A pure white light draws my attention as my pace quickens
My walk hastens even further as the sounds of birds and wildlife break the atmosphere
The light's intensity shatters my view as I close my eyes slightly coming to a stop

And so I stand at the edge of this canyon
A darkened hall and forgotten troubles behind me
The only thing cascading against my sight at this moment is the planet's beauty
From on top of this canyon, the forests below impart feelings of universal synchronization within me
From on top of this canyon, I feel that I've become one with natural itself
From on top of this canyon, the door which I knew nothing of became significant to me

    Scarlet ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem about our favorite color, and said color had to be stated at least five times.
    Spoiler:

A scarlet sky besets the realm around me
Welcoming my existence to the plateau of life which I sought with great determination
Scarlet leaves dexterously fall to the floor with nimble grace
The cries of angelic beings invigorate my ears
I can only see their scarlet eyes as they observe me from the heavens above
And her scarlet hair which was more refined than honored silk itself
Swings in the wind as she faces me with a curious look of inquisition
The wind caresses her scarlet dress causing it to dance with a rhapsody of acceptance
Her gentle aura rivets our actuality as she extends her hand to me

Awakened Universe ~ Free Verse (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a free verse poem that combined the other elements we had been working with: repetition, personification, metaphors, similes, etc.
    Spoiler:

    The universe awakens within me
As my existence is shifted inside out like an inverted spiral
The truth I seek is a closed book
With a lock placed firmly on the cover to prevent all access
Yet now with this revelation of hope stirring in my mind
I find myself grasping the key in my hand as I turn the chambers of the keyhole

    The universe awakens within me
As I flip the pages with utter care as if I were handling the world's most treasured jewels
My eyes scan the darkened and menacing words within this record of time
The papyrus I touch is older than life itself
Interpersonal synchronization occurs as my knowledge expands beyond what I expected

    The universe awakens within me
As my hands run through the remainder of this aged document
The final page which my eyes descend upon is void of all life
A blank slate stealing my attention away from the world
A loud snap shatters in the air

    The universe awakens within me
As I look up with the realization of what I have become
No longer does the library that I once stood within exist
No longer does the book of ancient stories that I held in my hands exist
No longer do the beings in this hall of education and wisdom exist
No longer does the world around me exist
No longer does anything else exist

    The universe awakens within me
As I find myself floating at the center of the cosmos
The stars are shining gems that twinkle with an aura of peace
The planets that surround me are collections of lives past
The universe is the final nexus that I have now achieved pure harmonization with
    The universe awakens within me
As I awaken within the universe

The More You Think About It ~ Acrostic (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write an acrostic poem using our favorite phrase, motto, or saying. For those that don't know, an acrostic poem is a poem in which the first letter of every line spells out something. The phrase I used was "The more you think about it, the more difficult it gets." Naturally, with a phrase like that, the poem of course came out to be ridiculously long.
    Spoiler:

This surge of irrational thought patterns wears down my being
Haunting my mind with nonsensical worries which should mean nothing to me
Enticing my head with vivid illusions and lies of false truths

Malevolent ideas that have no significance in the grand scheme of things
Oscillating my fabric of reality with an uncertain rush of doubts
Rendering what I see as myself to something that is not
Establishing a suspension of disbelief towards everything around me

Yielded necessities clash against that which derails my advancement
Ominous messages from those who care make their way towards me
Underlying statements of advice warn me to stop over-thinking

Thoughts manifest into problems, think nothing of your thoughts themselves
Heed these words, I shall—halt the process of excessive contemplation
Introspection will lead nowhere at this point for these thoughts must stop
Neutral outlooks on the situation are what are needed to rightfully proceed
Knowledge in regards to my own illogical tendencies will be necessary

Alter your mind as a whole to reflect the required change
Breathe with certainty that your thoughts are clear and dignified
Open your view to the world around you and liberate yourself from these closed corridors
Utilize your senses to realize that this chamber of thinking must be abandoned
Traverse new areas to free your mind from these troubled memories

Invert the dimensions in which you reside
Traject yourself onwards—leave this pursued train of thought behind

Traveling forward with this new gusto set about myself, I reflect on times past
Hastily trashing that which bogged me down, the road ahead was cleared of its fog
Extraordinarily so, times became relaxed and easy

Maelstroms of regret and shattered mindsets blockade your head
Overly patient, you wait out this typhoon of ambiguity
Rectify yourself and brave the turbulent winds
Extremes are absolutely nothing to you—you are stronger than this

Diligent minds are those which can surpass even themselves
Inside the realm of thought rests millions of subdivided worlds
Freely explore all of these living experiences by nothing more than your own will
For they are your only true escape from the original thought which distressed you so
Ill-mannered it may be to simply run from the issue by means such as this
Cautiously move on, though, because this may be the only way out
Until you can truly settle yourself to a state of agreement with your soul
Loiter on in this passageway of existences and immerse yourself within it forever
Till the end of time may bring down its scythe

Insidious antiquities may curse you yet
Till you pace yourself and analyze this gateway of all

Gestalt psychology has taught me to look at things as a whole
Edging against my eyesight, the thoughts which I rightfully abandoned attempt to break in once more
Trifling memories which are to never be recalled again claw at the locks
Seclusion from inconsistent beliefs is my course of action as I move to the future

These Undying Halls ~ Anaphora (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write an anaphora about high school. For those that don't know, an anaphora is a poem in which at least fifteen of it's lines start off with the same exact sequence of words.
    Spoiler:

And so I find myself in these forsaken halls once again
With every step I take comes a materialized wave of memories

Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the experiences which changed me so
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the people whose actions surprisingly intertwined with my own
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the thoughts which occupied my being
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the lives within these immortal corridors
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the passage of infinity in regards to all of us
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the ages of worry-free teenage shenanigans
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the eras of introspection as we sought to discover ourselves
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the moments in which all seemed hopeless and distraught
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the relief that came by when I realized that my friends were there
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the epiphany that brought my senses back to reality
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the idea that my efforts were not in vain
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the belief that I managed to succeed my own expectations
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the grounds of thought that I am not who I was four years ago
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the peaceful notion that I’ve really come a long way
Traversing these halls of times past, I reflect on the one thing I originally saw as impossible—walking out of these doors

Yet here I stand at the gates in-between the future and the past
With a cold embrace my hands grasp the metal handles as I look back on the dimension which once confused me so
    For the last time
The air of the world outside of these halls feels so—revitalizing.

    Water's Peace ~ Haiku (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three haiku's about three separate elements. 1/3.
    Spoiler:

    Overflowing streams
    Eradicate all thought lines
    Within thyself now

    Wind's Acceptance ~ Haiku (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three haiku's about three separate elements. 2/3.
    Spoiler:

    Passages of wind
    Set foundations of belief
    Eternally ours

    Earth's Solitude ~ Haiku (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three haiku's about three separate elements. 3/3.
    Spoiler:

    Existence of faith
Trust thyself and no one else
    Stand still in this world

    Conflict ~ Senryu (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three senryu's about three separate emotions. 1/3.
    Spoiler:

    Opposing ideals
    Shift forward uncertainly
    Reflection shattered

    Curiosity ~ Senryu (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three senryu's about three separate emotions. 2/3.
    Spoiler:

    The unknown stands here
Your eyes dance with intense awe
    And so you wonder

    Faith ~ Senryu (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write three senryu's about three separate emotions. 3/3.
    Spoiler:

    Never-ending trust
    Ultimate belief exists
    Before my eyes now

Ode to the Universe ~ Ode (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write an ode to something. I picked the universe because surewhynot.jpg I just thought it'd be interesting.
    Spoiler:

Oh, Universe, you are far too insensitive these days
Infinite possibilities that you have created since the beginning of all
Stand before me with a grand presentation of limitless chance
Yet the destiny you have carved upon my being is nothing but a narrow corridor
Restricting me to a straight path from start to finish with no branching hallways
Cancelling all opportunities to explore the other existences and worlds that surround me

Oh, Universe, you are far too insensitive these days
Setting us all on our own individual roads when you know we crave for social interaction
Setting us all on our own singular adventures when you know we desire to emerge together on crossroads
Setting us all on our own personal journeys when you know we look forward to intertwined fates

Oh, Universe, you are far too insensitive these days
Yet my respect for you is as endless as the sky above which veils my eyes from your enigmatic darkness
And my interest in you is as boundless as the eternal expanse of your illustrious territory
For you are the one thing that I will seek out until the end of my days
Until my final moments within this realm of reality, I will strive to discover your deepest secrets
The treasured memories of everything in history that you have yet to share with anyone but yourself
Oh, Universe, you are far too insensitive these days—yet you seem to care just enough

    Death's Embrace ~ Terza Rima (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a terza rima about anything. My guidance counselor had just died at the time, so that was the only thing I was really thinking about.
    Spoiler:

The true silent end which all things must face
Through an uncertain conclusion, facts are to be accepted
Even within one’s own soul there may be no proper trace

With the loss of an existence which meant so much, we now feel neglected
This swirling monsoon of negative emotions should be kept at bay
Fear, sadness, and confusion are the signals which are clearly detected

Yet still, we must hold our heads up and encounter a brighter day
Advance beyond the strife with an executed movement past these events
“She wouldn’t want to see you so gloomy,” everyone would say

A stream of unconscious thought escapes my body like wind rushing through vents
Acknowledgement of the truth requires an episode of heavy thought
Through expressed contemplation, we can realize that both life and death make equal sense

I’m left wondering if she ever found the answers she sought
Or if her daily life had any loose ends which would now remain confidential
The fact of the matter is that this is not where my views should roam, this path is all for naught

I can do no more than to thank her efforts which became so essential
Her words—her counseling—indefinitely guided us towards nothing short of growth exponential

In Love, In Death ~ Shakespearean Sonnet (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a Shakespearean Sonnet about love or death. I chose both.
    Spoiler:

In love all there is lies tainted belief
Distilled within our thoughts, faith now traversed
In death there stands only refused relief
Become what you truly see as reversed

In love exists a chance to face exile
    Processed feelings slowly emerge exposed
In death the truth is found through denial
    Eternal foundations remain transposed

In my view your eyes cascade resistance
The love that flows from me to you ignites
A paradox shines through our existence
The death that streams from you to me takes flight

Yet still I find myself hearing your voice
Conviction holds as I accept your choice

Will of Life ~ Villanelle (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a Villanelle about anything. I don't really know how to describe this one.
    Spoiler:

Determined will of life fades tonight
Through all prior existence I find myself at this finality
The end of our road shifts into my sight

A brief moment of reflection transposes our line of thought
Memories built up now fabricate premonitions of abnormality
Determined will of life fades tonight

Time will march on even after attaining the truth which I sought
Departures from our astral sour occur only within your eternity
The end of our road shifts into my sight

Two beings of light in a world of darkness forgot
The omnipotent link between them now locked through neutrality
Determined will of life fades tonight

My mind which was only filled with thoughts of you is now in distraught
As our interactions within these halls turn into nothing more than an insignificant formality
The end of our road shifts into my sight

I can see that my efforts were in vain as you walk away no matter how much I fought
With every step you take I can feel you poisonously draining my vitality
Determined will of life fades tonight
The end of our road shifts into my sight

Destiny ~ Five Word Poem (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a five word poem about anything. The restriction was that our teacher gave each of us five distinct words that we had to use in our poem in some way, shape, or form. My words were revival, lapidary (a jewel-cutting specialist), mizzled (to dissipate), rebirth, and ruthless.
    Spoiler:

Here we stand in the chamber of our spirits.
Her revival was one that neither of us could predict.
In her mind, the final act of this troubling play finished ages ago.
As her soul was strengthened with precision equal to a lapidary
I reflected on the integration of my thoughts towards her life.
In the next moments, she mizzled away from this realm with no warning.
Yet to my surprise, her aura lingered on like a phantom.
Through a conscious rebirth in the astral plane, I feel her presence now.
For a single instant of time, I see her fading before my very eyes.
By order of the ruthless universe, our destinies remain shattered.

Nexus: Another View ~ Renga (November 23, 2011)
Creative Writing assignment. Had to write a renga about anything. A renga is when you write the first line of the poem and then one person writes the next line, and so on and so forth until everyone has written a line, completing the poem. The entire class did this, shuffling papers back and forth. I actually really liked how mine came out, and then someone gave it a comedic ending, which kind of confused me.
    Spoiler:

The nexus of her soul shines here, beckoning my existence forward.
I answer the call, moving hesitantly.
Yet, I find myself stopping slowly,
Scared of what could occur by my continued movements toward.

The future and our fates intertwined, we guard
Our hearts as we listen so intently,
    listening so silently.
To be separate beings, I find too hard.

    Running from the past toward.
    Running, trying to find me.
Drowning in the ocean of life, the sea.
    Leaving, not going forward.

Love never goes back, always forward.
    As he looks in creepily
    He sets my heart free.
I think I may need a restraining order.

Okay, that clears out 95% of my repository. From here on out, it'll be mostly new content, whenever I get around to actually writing anything new.

Thanks, and glad to hear you're inspired. Inspiration is pretty hard to come by these days. Good to know we've managed to give some out.

I used to be like that, too. I walked into Creative Writing thinking it'd be all novels and plays and short stories, etc. Then I get the syllabus with the year's curriculum and I saw poetry, fairy tales, and all this other stuff I had no interest in. I was pretty upset and I was convinced it was gonna suck.

Then, I wrote my first poem. Ever. I had never written a poem before that class, only novels. To my surprise, I ended up loving poetry. Particularly, I really really really love writing sonnets. There's just something about them, I don't know. But yeah, if you haven't actually tried writing a poem, though, you might want to give it a shot. Your inner poet might just be hiding away like mine was. :P
