It being Monster Hunter IS the problem. The usual Tencent game is very bad at worst and average at maximum. Every game they make has a sort of cash shop or premium service that really points the stick in favor of those who pay and/or debilitates normal players. This is just some of the stuff they do, and as i said, their games aren't very good. Of course this complaint goes to hell if we discover that it's done by the usual MH team, but i seriously doubt it. Someone played Hunter Blade here? That's an example. It's just how Tencent operates.
Ever wondered why price of things to buy with real money in League of Legends has grew? Tencent.
Of course if it's at least on the level of Hunter Blade it would be ok, but eh. Best to doubt.

Failed Jhen Mohran because of the ship integrity, but Kayamba stole an Earth Dragongem from him, so that's worth it.

Speculation has been rife since the discovery of a Chinese website for a possible addition to the MMO world for Monster Hunter Online. An announcement from Crytek earlier today sees a brand new collaboration between Tencent Games and Capcom that will bring the world of Monster Hunter Online to an international audience. As a PC exclusive addition to the Monster Hunter franchise the smash-hit Japanese game will blend the trademarks of the console and handheld titles with a plethora of new customization options and MMORPG related additions.“The Monster Hunter games are known for immersing players in breathtaking worlds where great gameplay and spectacular sights go hand in hand,” said Areil Cai, Director of Business Development – CryENGINE. “CryENGINE 3 is the perfect fit for the series, and will ensure Tencent Games and Capcom are well equipped to make Monster Hunter Online the groundbreaking MMORPG experience fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating.”The series has already sold over 20 million copies and the recently released Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate increased Wii U sales by 115% in the UK, and 300% in France. It’s clear the Western audience has a taste for the world of Monster Hunter and we’ll finally have the opportunity to explore it in the West.

I'm kind of torn on which Ice Gunlance to use.
Lagomberatrix
345 Raw
260 Ice
Level 3 Wide
2 Slots
Vaskaclast
414 Raw
200 Ice
Level 3 Normal
-10% Affinity
1 Slot
Both have same sharpness, so no problem there. Just having problems on which will do more damage.
Okay, so now that I've got a 3DS I have a dilemma. Do I get MH3U now or wait for the incredibly epic looking MH4?
Part of the reason I haven't just got MH3U is that I haven't played Monster Hunter much since Unite and barely touched MH3 so I know bugger all about the monsters in it. I can't decide if I should just get both and get to a whole new pack of monsters twice or just wait for MH4. Plus, MH3U's lack of online (on the 3DS) really puts me off.

Hm. I'm not personally interested due to PSO2 taking up my time, but I am happy to hear that the franchise is expanding more in the West. It's a good thing. Not sure why nobody's commented on this before though, thought there would be more interest in it.
@Myth: Depends on your playstyle. If you shell a lot the Lagombi Gunlance will be more suitable for you. If you rely almost entirely on melee attacks the Jade Barroth Gunlance will do better. If you'd like versatility, go for the Lagombi Gunlance, it has two slots and doesn't have negative affinity, so you don't need to be concerned about getting feeble hits or whatever they're called nowadays, if they even have a name anymore.
@Cookies: Get both. MH4 and MH3U are going to be completely different.

I hadn't noticed 2X's post :P
That is pretty cool. I actually played Frontier for a short while when it came out (and loved it, but my interwebs sucks) and I really want to see more of the huge battles happen, so if I can play it I will definitely give it a go.
