Oh boy, farming Black Gravios is going to be boring since I need a ton of shit from him. As tempted as I am to use a GS agaisnt him, I'm going with the Bow again on him because of that exhaust he does after a beam. But at the same time if I go with a GS I can cut the tail and get more materials from him.
Although one thing I'm definitely not certain about is to whether catch him or kill him.
You do get more stuff from killing him. Plus you could try out your new GS (you got the Azure Finblade right?). I guess if you can catch him alot faster then it's probably worth doing that though.

Well I need a few more scales from Plessy though, which I don't mind since it's only one this time, but yeah I'm going to get it. I guess the only problem is hitting the tail since it's so high up there.
IIRC, the best time to hit the tail is during a gas burst or after a charge.

It's the safest, most efficient strategy.
Both are the best water element weapons of their type. There aren't any other useful Plesioth weapons aside from the Requiem Spear G and the High Sandman Spike, which are...well, G weapons.
The Kirin GS is better maxed out, yeah, but at G1 Khezu Shock Full is a G weapon compared to a high rank weapon and will out damage King Thundersword. Final Black Katana is still inferior overall to Exceptional Hornfly Saber with S+1 involved.
Evasion skills are more useful than guard skills. Don't bother with Guard Inc.
On the current topic, the tail isn't hard to reach. I farmed Black Gravios with an S&S and consistently cut the tail off. The heat ray and gas releasing attacks are an excellent time to attack it, as Cookies said. Charges not so much, due to the distance it tends to travel, though you can get a hit or two in when it prepares, and if it charges into a wall.

Evasion wins out over Guard even with a Lance/GL?
Especially Lances.

Yeah, that tiny jump backwards sucks. Evasion makes it slightly more useful.

The backhop and sidesteps are actually the most useful form of evasion in the entire game. They are key to maxing out a Lance's DPS.

I can think of a few monsters that guard inc/+2 would be great, Gravios, I can just camp under him and poke him until he dies. I could probably do it to Plesioth as well.
But whatever, I guess for evasion I could get Narga S set, Obituary S for weapons that have high elemental attribute. Although I already have a set for elemental weapons, Kut-Ku U which is better since it doesn't have a -20/-25 to elements.
