    Default FFX Leveling

So how does the leveling work? Rikku gave me the tutorial, but I'm still sorta confused about it. Can anyone make it simple for me? I'm currently at the part where Rikku gives Titus some food after turning on the power underwater. Recently just started playing it.

EDIT: Sorry if a thread like this has already been posted.

Defeating enemies grants AP at the end of battle. Once characters gain enough AP, they gain a Sphere level. One sphere level allows the character to either move one node forward on the Sphere Grid, or up to four nodes backwards through any nodes they've already landed on previously. Sphere levels require successively more AP, but at the end of the game I think they're more or less capped out. You use spheres to activate nodes on the Sphere Grid. For instance, an Ability Sphere grants characters, well, abilities (such as allowing Tidus to use Cheer).

Overkilling enemies (dealing more than 20% of the damage required to KO them) grants more AP, and usually better item/equipment drops.

In that sense, characters don't have 'levels' per se.

That's the basic gist of it. Later on you'll find special spheres that allow you to manipulate travel through the Sphere Grid and their nodes, but I wouldn't worry about them yet.

To backtrack through a path you've already gone through, it takes 1 sphere to 4 spaces, so you don't get too punished if you miss a sphere path or an ability you want.

in simple terms, as you gain levels, you can move around the grid, soo say 2 levels allow you to move 2 spaces on the grid, but you can move all the way back the places you already been to by using just one sphere level it pretty simple once you understand

Thanks Galadlin for the Set <3

yeah what they said it based on AP you go from sphere to sphere eventually you will run into blockades that requires a key sphere.. Usually you get these from creatures although i think at one point in the game you can buy lvl 2 key spheres, it goes up to 4. you can back track through skills and attributes you have already gained using less AP. Down the line you will get mp sphere hp spheres etc. they will turn blank nodes into the sphere you have used.. also you can move From say Tidus' sphere to Wakka's sphere and so on.. i think its one of my favorite level systems except the fact it will take 100s of hour to fill up every singles node and what not

Leveling is SOOOO Easy in this game it's not even funny , You just have to fight the special Tonberry in the Arena . Make sure everybody has Triple Overdrive and Triple AP , Auto-Phoenix , Not having to Celestial weapons on , and doing regular damage to him and you can easily get to lvl99 in no time . I got my whole team to lvl99 , used the sphere grid to get my attributes , and then did it all over again

If you are just starting out , the sphere grid concept in really easy to understand. Its like XIII's conecpt of leveling up your characters. My suggestion is when you get to a certain spot , stay there for a while so you can stock up on mana spheres and etc. Also staying in a particular spot where strong monsters appear at is essential because fightning these monsters can help with with future bosses in the long run and defeating them will be a piece of cake since you leveled up quite a bit. If you have the International version ( which I have ) leveling up in this version is so much easier and there are more abilities that are given to the characters. Also for quick leveling , its good to stick by a savepoint , fight a couple of monsters , go back to the savepoint , and then start the process over since the savepoint gives you backk all your health. Its also good to switch out your characters during a fight so that everybody can gain exp. in one match.

Try and get the Extract Ability skill for your characters. I think it's in Wakka's sphere grid (Debuff attacks). Just kill all the flying monsters with an Extract Ability skill to the face, and you get them pretty fast.

Well the monsters you fight there mostly drop power and mana spheres , just dont move lulu on the sphere grid and wait until you find a Ability Sphere and then you should be good
