With the season at its end, it's time to crown the final champion! But first, let's recap the winners of the regular season:
In third place (earning a bronze trophy for everyone on the team) is Prestige with a record of 7-5 (280 points).
In second place (earning a silver trophy for everyone on the team) is Dissonant Nexus with a record of 10-9 (316 points).
The top team for the first regular season of the Team Wars is Anima Redux with a record of 16-3 (364 points).
Congratulations to our top 3 teams! We'll get the trophies out to you and your players at the end of the tournament.
Speaking of the tournament, this is what you all probably came here for, so let's get this rolling. All the teams will enter the arena, but only one will come out victorious above all. Defeat means death, but will you turn to dust on the battlefield? Or will you be reborn in fire?

Basic Information Teams will be represented by a team of 3 members each round. Teams are automatically signed up and need only schedule a time with their opponent. Each round will be BEST OF SEVEN (7).
If an emergency arises, contact me as soon as possible to explain the situation so your team doesn't get disqualified for not having their participants available to play.
This tournament will take place over the week, and will likely finish over the weekend. If necessary, some deadlines may be extended to get a better feel for scheduling. Please contact me if scheduling becomes an issue so that we can work out the problem as quickly as possible.
Because we currently only have 7 participating teams, we will be operating under the Swiss Tournament format. (For more information on that, please check out the article here)
A quick run-down for those who aren't interested in reading the entire topic:
Points are given to each team for winning individual matches. For example, a team that loses a set 3-4 will earn 3 points while their opponent earns 4. You may earn 0 points for a round, but no more than 4 points for a round. Teams who have a bye will earn 4 points for the round, but will not be credited with a win (that affects your matchups). Teams will be matched up according to their performances in the tournament. You will see a team who has performed similarly to your team as the tournament advances. Slight changes are allowed for in the tournament system to prevent teams from playing a second time, so you will never face the same team a second time. If you do lose a set, don't give up!
The use of this system means that teams will continue to participate until the tournament ends. You will not be eliminated from the tournament, so please keep this in mind and be ready to participate throughout the week.
Teams will be seeded based on how they played during the regular season.
Matchups will not be determined for the second, third, and fourth rounds of this tournament until all matches have been played, so please please please keep up with the deadlines so that teams do not have to be disqualified for specific rounds. If issues come up for scheduling, again, contact me as soon as possible to get the issue fixed.
The tentative deadlines are as follows:
Round 1 - On or before Wednesday June 13th
Round 2 - On or before Friday June 15th
Round 3 - Saturday June 16th
Round 4 - Sunday June 17th
Check here for an announcement about updated schedule deadlines.
If teams need extra time, I will try to give it where it is needed. DO NOT WAIT TO CONTACT ME ABOUT SCHEDULING ISSUES.
Counter-picks and First Round Blind Selections
THIS PART IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN YOU MAY BE USED TO. EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY.
We will be changing up the picking system slightly. It will now run as follows:
*IMPORTANT* Stages are as follows: M.S. Prima Vista, Old Chaos Shrine, Dream's End, Sky Fortress Bahamut, Kefka's Tower *IMPORTANT*
Set 1 - Teams will alternate between striking the stages above (the team who strikes first will be chosen via coinflip) for all 3 matches. Once teams have selected stages, they will then send their player order AND character choices to a TO/neutral party (preferred to be a TO, such as myself, Shuruka, Draec, etc. but a neutral party will work if no one is available.) who will announce the matchups publicly.
Set 2 - Depending on the results in Set 1, teams will earn counter-pick opportunities. All stages are available for selection via counter-picks. The team who struck first overall will shift player order down one spot while the team who struck second will shift player order up one spot simultaneously. If your team lost the respective match in Set 1, your team will earn a counter-pick for that match in Set 2. A quick example:
Knights of the Dusk vs Teh Ninjas
M1: KotD
M2: Ninjas
M3: Ninjas
In set 2, Teh Ninjas get counter-pick for Match 1, while KotD gets counter-pick for Matches 2 and 3.
Counter-picking proceeds as follows:
1)Team A player selects a stage.
2)Team B player selects their character.
3)Team A player selects their character.
4)Both players customize at will.
Set 3 - In the event that a 3rd set is necessary, teams will follow procedure in Set 1. Strike stages first, then select a player and character via TO/neutral party.
If a team reaches 4 wins at any point, the round is over and results may be posted.
Teams may make a total of one (1) substitution mid-round. This must be done during the second set before stage choice (whether or not your team owns this right). If a substitution is made after a stage is selected, the team who has counter-pick will be allowed to choose a new stage. Substitutions are permanent and may not be changed unless complications arise. The player who subs out may not play again in the tiebreaker.
Reporting Match Results
At the end of a round, one of the players should report the results to the results thread. Try to follow a similar format as the one below:
Set 1
Kurayami (Garland) vs Kayarine (Bartz) [Dream's End] = Kurayami (Garland) 1-0
ChaosMuramasa (Squall) vs Khell (Golbez) [M.S. Prima Vista] = Khell (Golbez) 1-1
Set 2
ChaosMuramasa (Squall) vs Kayarine (Firion) [Order’s Sanctuary] = Kayarine (Firion) 1-2
Kurayami (Garland) vs Khell (Shantotto) [Crystal World] = Kurayami (Garland) 2-2
Set 3
ChaosMuramasa (Squall) vs Khell (Golbez) [Sky Fortress Bahamut] = ChaosMuramasa (Squall) 3-2
Team A (Kurayami and ChaosMuramasa) win 3-2.
I will update the bracket as information is reported.

Help and Support
I will do my best to make myself available as much as possible during this week to make sure that problems and disputes are solved quickly and efficiently. I will be available on both #DDFFCasual and #DFTeamWars as often as possible. In the event you can't reach me there, please leave me a PM on the forum. If a dispute involves a match result, please have a replay ready for me to view, otherwise I will not be able to do anything.
