Dissidia Specific Connection Problem (Ad HOC)

Alright, so I've scoured the internet (including these forums) for any threads similar to our problem, but I couldn't find any. I apologise if I overlooked a thread, and if I did I'd appreciate a link.

Anyway, here's the story. A friend and I (he's US, I'm EU) are trying to play Dissidia 012 together. We're using the US AHP and both using US copies of the game. We can connect to each others group battles and send challenges in the online lobbies (we tried Midgar, Lindblum and Cornelia) however when it comes to "Preparing for battle.." it just times out and our PSP's are no longer highlighted in AHP.

We thought this might be a connection thing, since we're so far away from one another. That was until we tried playing FFT: WOTL. He has a US copy, I have EU and we were able to play just fine, first time with no issues.

So the question arises, what the hell are we doing wrong that's stopping us from playing Dissidia 012 together?

Oh and for the record, we're both next to our PS3's and we've both port forwarded.

Ever since the new firmware update, Dissidia 012 has had this issue. You two aren't the only ones; most of the regulars here have experienced the same problem.

That would explain why we can never find anyone else online playing Dissidia 012 on AHP.

I assume then, there's no current solution for this?

Actually, beyond that problem with the firmware update, different regions of 012 cannot connect with one another. Different region-versions of the game aren't compatible with one another like 013 used to be. Square Enix left that out for whatever reason in the release of 012. Once the problem with the firmware update is fixed, you still won't be able to play unless you get EU 012 or he gets US 012.

As for the last question... There's currently no fix for this problem, Sony has to fix this by releasing a new firmware update. The original Dissidia still works on AHP though, so you can give that a try if you want.

He said that they were both using US copies chaos. They were using different regions for tactics

but yeah, only chance atm is for Sony to fix whatever they broke in their firmware update

That's disappointing to hear, but thanks very much all of you for your replies. I guess we can give DFF a try for now and hope that Sony fix it eventually.
