I thought this had to do with Biggs and Wedge to do ... ...
It's like a particle that they tried to find which was in everything which had mass, or some crap like that. Was called the God Particle because of that.
(I may be wrong, that's just what I've gathered from what I've read on the few articles and sites I found)

Good thing, because they found the other half of what makes the existence of anything possible. It's nicknamed the "God particle" because of how important it supposedly is. I'll have to do more reading on it myself to actually understand why this is the case, but that's what I can say with some degree of certainty.

I have a hard time comprehending it in a normal sense myself so your mom can be as skeptical as she wants. It's a part of quantum physics, which few people even really understand any part of in the first place.
