Is there a way I can take part in this Ad-Hoc with a Wireless connection? I have a laptop and a internet cord but no access to the router.

Ad-Hoc Party only works with a wired connection because the wireless radio on the ps3 is used to capture wi-fi signals coming from the psp, and the wired connection is used to connect to the internet. You will not be able to play if you cannot utilize your ps3's wired connection.

Furthermore you can do the following if you cannot get physical access to your router. Connect your ps3 to your laptop with an ethernet cord. Use the wireless card on your laptop to connect to the router. Next bridge the two LAN connections together and share internet access with the ps3. You may need to open psn ports on the router depending on your router's firewall.

so you have:

[psp] -> wireless connection -> [ps3] -> ethernet cord -> laptop -> [wireless connection] -> router -> internet

So your laptop is acting like a bridge.

This is it. No more battles will be fought... no more tournaments will be entered. The road has come to an end. The metagame has come to an abrupt halt, and with each passing day, Dissidia becomes less and less interesting to play and watch. The time has come for our Dissidia careers to end.

Anyone else think Axel's joining because he needed a quick $50 for a game on the PSN?

Oh I won't be playing round 1 until Monday since that's when the cable guy comes to install things at the new place. (moving) I'm kind of surprised axeel joined as well since he made a point of showing that he and ehx were quitting (the whole overdramatic thread and all).

I know some people have conflicts and such and for those who are still thinking or have not heard of this event this is your chance to shine in a major tournament and this opportunity doesn't happen often.

The sign-ups close this Friday as a reminder. I am looking forward to a good turn out.

So the brackets are being set up so that weaker players (like myself) are up against each other in the first round, right? I didn't look through the entire sign-up thread, but it sure would be lame to be annihilated right off the bet. My goal is to make it into Round 2 (maybe 3, if I'm damn lucky).

I don't care of fighting with stronger players even if i'm not a good player xD
My goal is to go on finals, why being so pessimistic, just believe in yourself and play like you never did xD (even if I don't even know you) (i'm such a crazy guy

With seeding the top 2 players could be finalists. They and the 2 ranked below them could be semi-finalists, etc. Going by this; no, generally the "weak" players will not be going against each other in round 1.

Tournaments that use seeding never pair up strong opponents until the later rounds of the tournament. They always split up the strongest players in the bracket. Generally the bracket can be split up on the winner's side into two halves first: The #1 seed is placed in one while the #2 seed is placed in the other. Then you can split each half in half again and continue to place the seeded players. For example:

#1 seed - Will play the weakest player determined by seeding - Will not play the #4 seed until quarterfinal if both players win every match

#4 seed - Will play the 4th weakest player - will not play the #2 or #3 seed unless he defeats the #1 seed during the quarterfinal and wins all matches beforehand

The above two scenarios play out the same with the #2 and #3 seeds but on the bottom half of the bracket: They separate them that way so that the early rounds are for "trimming" the players.

In the case of double elimination though, the chances are you'll be playing someone from the lower half of the seeding pool. We can't accurately seed players who have never participated before though, so you'll just have to do your best and roll with the punches. Everyone has a goal, so stick to yours and play your best.
