I call him Tye-dus, even though I know Tee-dus is the correct pronunciation.

Why? Because Tye-dus sounds better and makes him sound far less whiny (than he already is.)

...this is what I do. For the exact same reason. I'm all about correctness but Teedus hurts too much.

Tide-us. Teedus just sounds weird... and I could care less grammar nazi's. I have called him Teedus, when being official, but that's it.

It's funny because normally I'm the guy correcting people all the time, when I know Teedus is right but I just can't bring myself to say it. It's like calling MGS2's character "Rayden." Thank god "Raiden" is correct though.

Still, I wish they dropped the "name your character" thing in X so that I wouldn't have called him Tiedus for 10+ years.

Besides, calling him "Teedus" reminds me of "Pee-nus"

Well when I first played FF X I called him TIDE-US but idk it sounds natural as TEE-DUS to me since I can actually hear it now

Its like reading a Japanese name in a sub anime and your not sure if you said it right but if you hear it in dubbed later your like ah thats how its pronounced so you just roll with it...or at least i do

I always have called him tide us. Mostly because of justifications for his association with water.
But the Japanese reasoning for the contrast of names of tidus and yuna make sense so I correct myself

Tie-dus. They can say Teedus is the right way all they want but the word is comes from isn't pronounced like that.
