The way I pronounce it has nothing to do with where I'm from (well, it probably does in a world view sense) and I only made that post after looking up where it came from (I assumed originally that it was a mispelling/change of Titus, which is pronounced Tie-tuss).

Honestly the fact that it resembles Tide has occured to me before, but had nothing to do with the way I say it, infact it was the way I say it that inspired the thought.
So you're saying Tida can be pronounced as "Tie" or "Tee?" Interesting.

As far as I can tell, because I've heard both, but an actual Japanese person would have to confirm it either way.

It's actually Ku-ra-do not krowdo...-_- the ra/i/o/u/e is how they get their L sound. Just saying...back to the crybaby. Teedus is obviously correct, tiedus does sound better, not to mention manlier...not much manlier but still...manlier. Teedo would've been better flat out...

The Japanese i makes the e sound, so that is why you would want to pronounce Tidus and Tifa as Teedus and Teefa, but if you're an English speaker it is perfectly fine to pronounce the names with an i sound if you so desire. It depends if you want to be politically correct or not

That's what I thought. Japanese and Vietnamese share that trait I think.

Heck, if Ti made a Tie sound, then wouldn't Tifa be Tiefa?

If you put in that way, it should be read as "Tee-doos", wich is what italians do, like me; in italian grammar language, an "i" means an "i", and an "u" mean an "u", not "ai" and "a". So basically, the name can change structure if it can adapt to the specific grammar. But since the official/canonic name is "Tee-dus", it should be stay that way.
    Spoiler:

Dissidia mains: Gabranth, Cloud Strife, Kuja
Duodecim mains: GILGAMESH, Laguna Loire, Vaan "Ratsbane"

    I support:
    *Namco vs. Capcom
    *Square-Enix vs. Capcom
    *Square-Enix vs. Level 5
    *A Kingdom Hearts Tactics
    *Project x Zone localisation
    I want to believe.

That's not even remotely what I was talking about.
