To be honest, I'd rather use Dragon's Fang/Gungnir/Sky Rave against the Emperor. Ground Flare is unimportant due to The Emperor shutting Kain down better in the air, so it's just the aerial Flare deflecting Cyclone and preventing Kain from getting close. Dragon's Fang doesn't do anything but remove the Flare from play temporarily, however, while Gungnir is still the most important HP available to Kain in the matchup.

I imagine you're using Rising Dive and Sky Rave If you have two bravery raping moves, no need for a third. If you have a single HP, use it.

Wait, mind explaining how Emperor shuts down Kain better in the air?
It's not so much that the Emperor has more tools to fight Kain in the air than the ground (lack of Thunder Crest makes this obviously not the case), but that it makes it more difficult for Kain by limiting what he can do to the Emperor. It's a lot easier to position appropriately for Kain when he's given freedom of movement on the ground. That's why it's common for Emperor players to fight in the air nowadays. It limits an opponent's ability to deal with his traps and forces many characters to approach when they could normally just throw out ranged attacks and reflect Flares with impunity.

But see, in general, going aerial against Kain end up turning out unfavorably.
Generally for Emperor, or generally speaking against the cast? If the former, no, if the latter, it isn't relevant to bring up here, since this is about the Emperor, where the generalization holds no water.

Oh, for the cast in general because of Jump.
And I think I should leave it at that before further derailment.
I personnally use Dragon's Fang most of the time because it's more fast and more difficult to punish.
It can also be a good move to prevent an Assist Change or a final Ex-Revenge, but I love send the opponent away with Gungnir doing a lot of damages![]()

Dragon fang is easily punishable espeically by assist since the cooldown is pretty high. If it's not used during a assist combo then yes it cannot be assist changed out of (well not without taking the HP hit)
Personally I think DF is more useful but it depends on the match up. Gungnir is more fun to use though

Gungnir also has a high cooldown though :/ Is Dragon's Fang's cooldown higher than Gungnir's? I'm not sure

Oh yes it does have a high cool down too. I was just stating DF because you said DF (and DF only) was difficult to punish so I commented on that. Both moves are easily punishable. Since DF is 41 Frames and Gungnir is 55 frames Gungnir's cooldown is higher but it doesn't really matter though since they are both punishable.
