yeah today i had a match with my brother. he opted to go for precise evasion even tho it costs alot. well i got my ass handed to me. he was using cloud with a dodge to brave build and when i tried to shadow flare> anything, the attack would go thru him and he would counter with crits. is there any way to get around the precise evasion, or will i just have to change my play style
Sounds like you just got...

...fooled.

AHEM. Anyways. You should probably just turtle more for a bit, watch his movements, bait his SB/DC and punish with Scintilla/block, fake out with HL (but don't abuse it) and stuff. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this properly, but you should just basically space yourself with SF and OAD+ while watching him at the same time and deal with whatever he throws out accordingly with your standard SF follow-up. Don't just do that and be predictable either though, just mix it up and stuff.
I never actually fought a Cloud with Precision Dodge before though. Maybe if I fought this MU with your brother (with him having Precision Dodge equipped) or anyone else in general, I might bring back more useful info.
he's actually not over right now, but i suppose i could do help with it. cloud isnt exactly my specialty, but im decent enough at him.
Competitively a Cloud will have precision evasion on. ( I know I do.) Why wouldn't you? Cloud can't cover dodges and precision evasion works wonders when you least expect it.
Anyway back to topic, you should maybe change your play style you might be using SF too close to where Cloud can just counter with one of his attacks, to use SF effectively you need to learn how the opponent reacts and space properly.

i see, but sephiroth range (at least for his most damaging moves) isnt too much larger than clouds, so thatll be tricky to pull off. and turtling and mind gaming more does sound like a really good idea, but he can mind game me back (ive been bitch slapped by braver mid scintilla several times before)
Mid-Scintilla as in you did Scintilla expecting him to do something when in reality he was doing nothing at all and then he countered you or mid-Scintilla as in you did Scintilla in reaction to seeing Braver? Two very different things. If it's the latter, you need to work on your reactions. If it's the former, you need to work on your predictions.
As for Sephiroth as a whole, yes, Precision Evasion and a good BRV Boost on Dodge Build will thwart any Shadow Flare usage. Sephiroth's weakness isn't so much Precision Evasion I would say as much as it is Adamant Chains and Zephyr Cloak with a few good multipliers. If you run into a player who's utilizing these two assets correctly, then you'll have to shift over to a more patient playstyle. Alternatively, instead of building meter with Shadow Flare, just space more often with Omni Air Dash + and build Assist with Sudden Cruetly -> Dodge -> Oblivion -> etc etc.
the first one, definately. in reaction to seeing braver, i just wait half a second, then dodge. and yes, my predictions are god awful, because for the most part i fight the brain dead ai.
but as for building assist, that is a viable option, but does it build as fast as shadow flare? and ill have to try that out in a pvp.
i see. but still, fighting a cloud (or anyone for that matter) with PE is gonna be a bitch and a half.
